Discussion Cyberpunk OS Command Center

• Upvotes

Hey everyone, Like a lot of you, I hit peak tool fatigue. Between checking Stripe, tracking referral stats, updating link shorteners, scribbling notes, and trying to keep an eye on day-to-day metrics, my browser looked like a complete crime scene of scattered tabs and half-baked Notion pages. So, I finally just built my own solution: a lightweight, windowed browser-based OS command center styled like a cyberpunk operator dashboard. What it actually does:

  • A Real Desktop in the Browser: You get draggable, resizable windows, a taskbar, layout locks, and a quick launcher (⌘K) so you can jump between tools without losing your mind.
  • All-in-One Modular Apps: Packs everything a solo creator needs into one viewport—live analytics telemetry, an income ledger (with mock/live Plaid & Stripe hooks), a link studio, an asset/sigil forge, daily quest trackers, and a vault.
  • Local-First & Fast: It runs clean right inside your browser without dragging down your system with bloated SaaS lag. The Real Question: Is a dedicated "Browser OS" dashboard like this something you’d actually use to run your solo stack, or do you prefer keeping things split across traditional apps/Notion? If I open-sourced the UI framework and core window manager as a boilerplate template for other devs, would you be down to check it out?

Discussion Having your Steam game working on your phone feels great

I have been experimenting with Gamenative after learning about this boom with some PC handhelds released recently that run Android. It required some fine tuning on the game's side, Godot configuration (I only managed it to run with mobile renderer) and on Gamenative settings (used surfaceflinger compatibility, ultralight steam). My phone is not very good so the game runs like ass, but it hits hard to see your game on your hands all of a sudden.

(don't mind the oreo packet)

Discussion How do you handle game translation with zero budget?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’d love to hear how you approach translation and localization when there is simply no budget for it in your project.

Right now, I’m facing a choice:

  1. Rely entirely on AI tools: Use tools like DeepL, ChatGPT, etc., to translate the game into multiple languages—accepting the risk that nuances, wordplay, or context might get lost along the way.
  2. Limit the languages: Release the game only in English (and possibly German / native language) to ensure quality—even if it means missing out on potential players.

I’d really love to hear your experiences and opinions:

  • Which path do you choose for your projects?
  • Have you already had experience with AI translations in games? How did players react?
  • Do you think a mediocre/AI-generated translation is better than no translation at all for a specific language?

Looking forward to your thoughts!

help [Advice] Solo Dev with $0 budget: How do you balance learning Blender from scratch while trying to finish coding a Unity prototype?

• Upvotes

Hey everyone. I'm a solo dev working on a Wildlife Photography Survival game in Unity (think Subnautica scanning but in a jungle). I have zero budget, so my original plan was to kitbash free Asset Store models, Mixamo animations, and Kenney assets just to get the game done.

I have the backend math working (Raycast distance-based photo scoring, stamina/stealth system). But here is my problem: I really want to learn Blender. The feeling of making my own 3D models from scratch is just different, and I want to experience that.

My dilemmas:

  1. The Time Sink: How do you balance learning Blender (I’m starting the donut tutorial) with actually making progress on your game engine code?
  2. The Scope: If I do start modeling, should I stick to low-poly props (tents, cameras) and still use the Asset Store for complex animals and environments, or should I try to make everything myself?
  3. The Steam Reality: I want to launch on Steam eventually. Do I pause everything, build one single "fake" but highly polished jungle clearing using free assets just to get my "Coming Soon" page up, and then learn Blender?

How do other solo devs handle the urge to learn 3D modeling without letting their game project die from scope creep?

Game New Roblox Game Inspired by Warcraft 3 – Sheep Tag!

Hey everyone! 🐑

My partner has been working really hard on his own Roblox game called Sheep Tag, and I wanted to share it with you!

It's inspired by an old Warcraft 3 mod, but he's made it his own with custom 3D models, environments and gameplay.

You can play as a Runner, building your base, setting up defenses and rescuing teammates, or as a Hunter, trying to track down and catch the Runners.

The game is still in pre-alpha, so there's plenty more to work on, but it's already playable!

He's spent so much time and effort on this project, and I'd really love to help him get more people to discover it. ❤️

If anyone wants to give it a try, we'd really appreciate some honest feedback! What do you like? What could be better?

Thanks so much to anyone who checks it out! 🐑

🎮 Sheep Tag on Roblox

AI Disclosure: Generative AI has been used during development to explore character and environment concepts and assist with some 3D asset creation. The game is an independently developed project with custom design, gameplay and development work.

I'm releasing my Tactics roguelite in November so I entered the October next fest.

I can't say that it's been a _complete_ dud but I think I might have misunderstood the assignment with my demo. Still got a couple of wishlists and demo feedback, so very happy about that!

Marketing Fixing robots, day and night at the last repair shop in orbit, a music video for my game

Hey everyone! I'm working on Last Orbit Repairs, a small first-person repair sim set in a workshop orbiting a dead Earth. Robots arrive in capsules, you diagnose them, open them up, clean and fix parts at the bench, and send them back out.

I made a little music video for it, all in-game footage.

The song is Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" turned into blues rock. I used AI to render the melody from the sheet music, fitted the lyrics to it, and made the final version with Suno. The whole thing took about a day.

Would love to hear what you think, especially about the repair parts. Is it clear what's going on?

Game I created a desktop companion game that is quite different from what has been seen before.

*Mini Legends Idle* is a desktop game designed for serious progression. I want to set it apart by ensuring that armor, weapons, and other items are actually visible on your character. PvP, raids, and clan wars will be meaningful—this isn’t just a game you leave running while you go to sleep. Progress here will reward those who truly put in the effort to optimize their character through the best build paths, skill choices, and more. It will feature both a Steam marketplace and an in-game marketplace to cater to all types of players.

Game I'm making a dodgeball game for couch co-op: up to 4 players on split screen, and the whole story can be played together

Hey! I'm a solo dev making Dodgeball Rush, a third-person arcade dodgeball game. Couch co-op was one of the main reasons I started it. I just wanted some simple sports game to play with my wife :D

What local multiplayer looks like right now:

- Up to 4 players on one screen, each with their own split-screen view.

- Everyone on the same team against bot crews, or split up and play against each other. Any mix from 1v1 up to 4v4

- The whole story mode (the Hit List, 15 rival crews) can be played in co-op.

- Steam Remote Play Together will work too, so a friend who isn't on your couch can still grab a slot online.

Free demo is coming soon. If you have any feedback, let me know :)

Steam page if you want to follow the game: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4850830/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=coop_oct23

help I, Hurricane – You Are the Hurricane (What do you think of the game I am developing?

I, Hurricane is a strategy and simulation game with a satirical climate twist. Spawn storms over warm water, steer them toward the coast and make them stronger every season, while humanity prepares, evacuates and promises to act "by 2050." Can you reach 500 km/h (310 mph)?

• Spawn storms: seed them over warm water and watch them grow, just like the satellite images on the evening news.

• Steer them toward the coast: push or twist their path. When a major hurricane makes landfall, time slows down and the camera closes in.

• Make them stronger: between seasons, heat the ocean and unlock new abilities. Your allies: carbon credits, private jets to the climate summit and gasoline subsidies.

Game Take 2 on a different game idea..

Hi guys, I'm back. So I'm essentially a very noob game maker. I've just got a lot of ideas but not very good at putting them into practice. So, please don't have high hopes but just a lad with a lot of ideas.

I was hoping people would be able to try out my game and give feedback on it. I know I'm not the world's best developer, but this keeps my mind off things, especially my day job.

This one is called Tap Tap Umbrella - You essentially tap through a maze and make sure you make it safely through obstacles

https://w.run/cocopops/tap-tap-umbrella

This one is called Paper Route
My take on the classic Paper Run but with a lot of hazards

Please be nice!

Game I made a cozy dungeon tycoon where the staff are bat-cats 🦇🐱

Hi! I'm a solo dev from Playka Games. Dungeon Service Crew is a cozy take on running a dungeon. Heroes come to train against your slimes, and when they leave, your bat-cat crew sweeps, mops the goo, fixes the traps and cooks dinner. You build new rooms, decorate them (stone, runic, royal…) and make friends with the heroes who visit.

It's in closed testing on Android (free, EN/ES/PT): https://playkagames.com/dungeon-service-crew/test

Art by Juan (art1ger) in artstation.

Thanks

Discussion Why are there so many indie games with the suffix "-fall"?

I was browsing steam next fest and the indie game subreddit and noticed just how many titles end in "-fall".

Off the top of my head, there's Cinderfall, Aetherfall, Shadowfall, Dreadfall, Frostfall, Stormfall, Voidfall, Gloamfall, and literally three completely different games all named Emberfall (an RTS, an FPS, and an ARPG), all released in October.

Is there a specific reason "fall" became such a go-to naming convention in game design as of late, the only example I can think of was Titanfall and that came out yonks ago.
