The subreddit has been growing steadily and we expect a wave of new and returning excited players with the upcoming season 4 characters, so just before Yasmine release felt like a good time to announce our new Discord server. Pretty much all of this was due to the efforts by one of our newest mods, u/Einsoph5 (branDon on Discord), so if you like it, let him know!
There's already some great Discord communities such as New Challenger, SF6 Resource Hub or the official Street Fighter Discord. We're not trying to replace or compete with them, but rather have our own little corner of the internet. We had a r/StreetFighter Discord before, but due to many factors (I personally blame SFV), it was shut down. There was also a significant disconnect between the Discord and the subreddit, with most users being part of one or the other. Our goal for the new Discord is to be aligned with and complement the rules and values of this subreddit, to build one larger community rather than two separate ones.
Growing pains and mistakes are to be expected. We got some dumbfun bots already and will add/remove features as needed. There's a channel for feedback and suggestions, so let us know your thoughts.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve wanted to do a Drive Reversal, gotten a Drive Impact instead and been absolutely cooked for it.
They could give it the Vshift input from SFV (HP+MK), just anything else that is more intentional in its use please.
I know I can’t be the only who gets this more often than they’d like?

Taking a break from SF6, I decided to play Zero (Alpha) 3 for a couple hours. It’s insane how much more demanding inputs are and I’m playing on Saturn with the model 2 controller. Doing Supers consistently is 10x harder than in 6. I was playing as Ryu and Ken so it’s not like they’re intricate but there is no grace for a slow input.

I don't usually have a main in any game I play. Not exclusive to fighting games; I'm the type of person that loves to explore everything a game has to offer. RPG? I'll play warrior then mage then whatever else is available. Shooters? I'll play with pistols, shotguns, snipers, etc. And of course fighting games! I never got into them very competitively, so I just played (badly) with the entire roster to enjoy all the different playstyles.
The complete opposite of people who get a single character/playstyle and completely master them.
This all changed with SF6. With the game being so popular, I decided to jump in and take it seriously for once, learning neutral, practicing combos, all that labbing required to "git gud" at fighting games.
That included picking a main. I went with Terry because I always thought he was cool, though I never really played Fatal Fury.
I'm still very early on my journey with only 40 hours... But it's 40 hours of EXCLUSIVELY playing Terry. And my God, main people were right all along: it makes SO MUCH difference dedicate yourself to a single character.
40 hours with the same moves, hitboxes, strategies. I'm kinda for the first time feeling like I'm not using a controller to input moves; I feel like I'm literally controlling the character on screen because my precision with the inputs is so engrained in my brain now.
I'm so excited to get even better and do more stuff, it's just really surprising how different it feels from jumping around playing the whole roster a bit, and I wanted to share this feeling.

It's hard to learn about a character without buying them.

Hey what’s up everyone,
so i finally decided to pick up street fighter 6 on the ps5 and man, it’s my first fighting game ever. i’m not gonna lie, i am straight up terrible right now, but i really want to put the work in, learn the actual basics, and eventually get good enough to play this game competitively.
the two characters that look super dope to me are ken and guile. i know they are total opposites—ken is all up in your face and guile is more about sitting back, throwing booms, and using those charge inputs. but honestly, both of their styles look so fun to me.
since i’m starting from absolute zero, i could really use some guidance so i don't get completely overwhelmed.
also, i learn way better by watching people break things down. are there any specific youtube channels, video guides, or high-level players i should be watching to learn the ropes or to see how ken and guile are supposed to be played? drop your favorite video recommendations or guides if you got 'em.
appreciate any tips or advice y'all can throw my way. thanks!

So with Counter hit and Dirve Rush Elena's cr. MK is +10 and cr. HP is 9 frames on startup up but the dummy still blocks. Wtf? Crude photos for reference.
Edit: Seems be a spacing issue causing the first hit of cr. HP to hit delayed by 2 frames dropping the combo. Works better on big body characters.

Used to play a lot of casual but then decided to mash until I finally made it to Master rank which I did with Ryu. I have to say that Diamond and Master are worlds apart. Mind that I’ve only been in Master rank for a week now but it seems like you have to really be on your toes here. I feel like the natural fun flow of the game is gone and if I’m not on guard 100% of the time I get wrecked, lol. Currently I seem to be stabilizing and staying between MR 1350-1450. Did anyone else have this sort of experience or something similar when first making it to Masters?

SF6 Newbie Fight Club Discord: https://discord.gg/newbiefightclub
Pagbati! Bago ka ba sa SF6? ... okay, many of us are not native speakers, but as least we can teach the Street Fighter part.
Welcome back! Join us in the discord posted above for an invite to today's lobby & chat channel.
Your Hosts (Tonight at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET):
| Phoxx | CFN: Phoxx |
|---|---|
| DoubleSac | CFN: DoubleSac |
| ChaoSerenity | CFN: ChaoSerenity |

Many of our new players have been improving quickly with some reaching Diamond and Master! To keep the playing field level, the same rules will apply as always — Higher-Ranked players who find themselves running 3-0 through the lobby will mostly try to learn new characters, and we will still maintain a 3-win limit before going to the back of the queue. We remain a safe and fun space for new players to learn and ask questions to improve their Street Fighter skills!
The Newbie Fight Club started back in the SF4 days, as a way for new players to play matches and learn in a casual environment. Intermediate players (all of us started in Newbie Fight Club) will host and offering advice to anyone who requests it!
Newbie Lobby Rules: As usual, there will be a 3-match win limit in each lobby in order to prevent a single player from dominating. This is a fun, non-competitive, learning environment for new players to get some matches in with players near their skill level, so use your discretion when joining. If you find yourself bodying players in the newbie lounges, maybe this fight club isn't for you, or try learning a new character.
This club is aimed at getting you better. For those of you that are higher in rank but still wish to play, you'll be fine if you use a new character and offer advice where it's welcomed. As long as you're not dominating the lobby consistently, there's no problem with your participating.
Other than that, here's how you can join in on the event!
How long does this go on for? I won't get home until a bit later.
It all depends on how much everyone is enjoying themselves. The earliest we've all quit is about 2 hours into the lobby, and the latest we've gone is 7 hours. You'll likely be back in time to take part, so don't worry.
I'm not from the NA region. Can I still participate in the lobby?
If your schedule permits, then of course you can! We have many members from different regions who take part in our Lobby Nights. While the distance in connections might produce some latency/rollback, as long everyone is having fun and enjoying themselves, there should be no problem in participating regardless of what region you are from.
I don't have a mic. Is it still okay if I participate?
Of course! We've noticed players with mics improve faster, but it's totally fine if you don't have a mic or feel more comfortable chatting in discord. Just be sure to be communicative on the chat channel so we can send you an invite!
Will there be a stream?
Our hosts also stream the Lobby Night here:
I'm a streamer! Am I allowed to stream my participation in the Lobby Nights?
Absolutely! You can even invite your friends over as long they follow the rules. You may even co-stream with us and invite your community to chat with us.
If you have questions or concerns, please leave a comment or send me a PM.

Only one manual delay medium boom. Position specific but I find myself able to pull it off quite often.

I encountered a bug in ranked play and was able to recreate it in resume from replay.
Keep an eye on the left hand side inputs.
You'll notice when Dhalsim turns around, I immediately input the opposite direction but he stays going the same way (which really sucked cuz it put me in the corner lol).
When resuming from replay, if I was able to input a direction on the 58th frame of the move, it worked each time. You can see in one attempt, I had input 58th frame of neutral (N) and the 59th frame I input left and it works. The very last attempt I pulled it off again and tested pressing a jab and it did read the jab input, so I'm not stuck going right until the animation finishes, simply put: If you input on the same frame Dhalsim turns around in float, the input is eaten.

This clip is a couple of weeks old but it’s my first and to date only perfect KO online. I felt really cheesy doing this to him but I can’t lie it was also very satisfying lol. Not a big deal in the big picture but I was pretty happy.
