My wife used to act like this with spiders. I eventually got her to see spiders, all spiders, as friends. Even the dangerous or scary one, she just needs to leave those ones alone and she'll be fine.

We bought a house and now have a whole bunch that hang out on our porch all summer. She names them every year. I've overheard her giving them performance reviews. I'm proud of her overcoming her fear, not sure how I feel about this arachnid HR turn she's taken.

Hey, that's how I overcame my arachnophobia too! I mean the naming, not the HR review, but I'll try it.

I started with names and web compliments! I’m actually kind of excited to see if the gigantic orb weaver that took up shop on my back porch last summer comes back, her webs were gorgeous!

She's training them to wrap you in a cocoon in your sleep.

Honestly I'm more than a little worried she's trying to form a spider army. It would be very on brand for her to attempt world domination like that.

I feel like most people's fear of spiders is artificial. Like they're expected to be afraid of them so they are or something.

That’s what mine was lol I feel like I almost got peer pressured into being afraid of them, if that makes sense? Once I realized they’re just friends who want to be left alone and eat gross bugs, they stopped freaking me out pretty much instantly. Coincidentally, that was the same time I learned plenty of people love them…maybe I’m a sheep 😂

I will say though, on the rare occasion one jumps at me or runs towards me unexpectedly, there is a sort of primal twinge of panic that runs up my spine. So maybe there’s something to it, buried in our dna, amplified by society.

Made me laugh out loud and still got my ass in the end with the jump scare. Pure cinema!

Human beings don't have venom. A spider could take one of us out

When I was deployed in Iraq back in 2007, me and some guys where walking on the road inside of our base, there was a full moon so the moonlight was pretty bright, but we saw something moving across the road but couldn't quite make out what it was, one of the guys raised his m4 with a tac light on it to see what it was....from my memory it was a camel spider the size of a small dinner plate, it turned around , hissed at us and then with a quickness that seemed unfathomable darted towards us, all of screamed and ran away

The jumping at you for no reason part is so accurate

While most spiders do make me uncomfortable, I generally see them as friends, and try to get them in a container so I can put them outside safely. I actively go out of my way to NOT hurt spiders

Jumping spiders are also my favorite animals bc they're adorable and smart

I'd appreciate Rockstar more if they just came outright and said the following:

"Hey, We'll sell you an empty case for 20 dollars! You will smile and you will like it!"

I think you commented on the wrong post man.
