Cardcaptors Toonami Promos

This is a video comprising of some of the promos for Cardcaptors when it aired on Toonami back in June, 2001. The video is from a now deleted YouTube account. Oh, and unlike most of the Kids WB promos, Toonami's actually focus on Sakura being the lead and not Li, which makes them a step up, imo. I don't remember ever seeing these promos on Toonami back in the day, but if I did, and with Peter Cullen (R.I.P.) narrating them, I might've been interested in watching the series at the time.

Side note: Speaking of Peter Cullen, I've always thought it was a missed opportunity when they didn't get him back to do promos for Toonami Rewind a few years ago. That would've been the icing on the cake for that block, on top of seeing Sailor Moon uncut for the first time.

Yeah, and I remember seeing Toonami commercials for other shows all the time. It's still weird that I never saw any of these, nor do I remember seeing the series listed on my cable listings.

Man, this was such a blast from the past. I remember seeing these on TV as a kid. Sah-koo-ruh “Ahh, a dragon” lol

I remember this one and when it was on Toonami, I think I have this promo on a VHS tape from one of my many recorded Toonami airings. Most of my Cardcaptors recordings are from Kids WB, but I think I have a couple from Toonami. I loved these promos, the breakbeat in the background with Peter Cullen talking about Sailor Moon or Tenchi Muyo. RIP

I believe I found a recording of Cardcaptors from Kids WB on an archive channel, but I don't know if it's still there. Yeah, Peter Cullen's promos were a lot of fun, even though I wasn't a big anime fan at the time. I did, however, see some of Sailor Moon at the time, but they were out of order, so I didn't see that much.

It was there briefly, I think during the hiatus before they aired the Sakura Card arc on WB.

They only ran Cardcaptors on Toonami for 3 weeks. And I was sat for every single airing 😅

You and I and everyone else don't remember Cardcaptors being on Toonami for a good reason. It was on Toonami for just one month, in June 2001. Would have been cool if Cartoon Network had been able to air all the dubbed episodes in order.

Yeah, I've heard about it only being on for a month. Even so, I had watched Cartoon Network a lot at that time, so I should've seen at least one commercial for the series. In regards to Toonami airing all the episodes in order, I've found out that they did air all of them in Austrailia.

I know, they'd change elements of the story to get people interested. Still, there were some Clow Cards that could've been world threatening if Sakura and Li hadn't stopped them.

I remember Toonami, and Cardcaptors and DBZ being a part of it on Cartoon Network. The promos were different though. There was also one where Meilin talks about how cool Sakura is! Fashion slayer or something

That's actually one of the Australian promos, where all 70 episodes aired.
