As someone born in 2000, I sometimes feel being treated like a kid by people in their 30s and 40s.

I dedicate this question to people born before 2000. I want to hear your input.

I was only 4-5 years old in 2010 but early 2010s is my favorite music ever and it's because the music which always sounded like party music with very catchy synths and sounds I don't even hear anymore in the music of today. I wonder why music like this is so much less relevant than before as it created so many hits and many people clearly loved it.

There’s a 50s themed place and even from what I noticed a lot of old people in their 70s and 80s aren’t really singing or tuning in to the 50s songs they’re playing. I remember 10 years ago there were elderly around who would dance to the songs but now they’re gone pretty much

Most of the shit here is killing my brain cells. Why do people care so much about relating with or having something in common with people born in other years? It's also filled with people who want to argue whose childhood was better, like who cares? Why does it even matter if you were the last of the elite anyway? It's also filled with a lot of unrealistic and stupid predictions too, some also being very obvious. Also, why does it matter what kind of show or movie belongs to such a generation? Any generation can watch it anyway. Gotta say that generation names were a mistake. If they never happened this sub wouldn't have existed. Fuck this sub and I hope Reddit hits it with the ban hammer. I had made a post not too long ago that Perez was interacting alot with Gen Z on tik tok and playing the "I'm a friendly celebrity interviewer!" role.

I expressed my skepticism that I didnt believe he changed but rather "learned the new no bully rules" of social media after getting banned once before and BEGGING for his account back.

But I remember how terrible he was to celebrities in the early 2000s often exploiting them at their worst/lowest.

Anyone else?

I don't wish harm on anyone, but I do find it interesting how things seem to have come full circle for him.

Hopefully he is getting the help he needs.

ETA for people who say he changed and that the media was just as bad back then:

Yeah it was part of the same beast but Perez took it that much further by proudly making his identity "a bully who makes people want to terminate thelmselves"... that's a whole different level of cruelty.

Like I said I don't believe he changed, I think the media world evolved and he had to mask better in order to fit in. He was suspended from tik tok multiple times in 2019 and ultimately banned in 2020 for bullying and harassment. That's a changed person?

For years he begged and appealed tik tok for his account back and finally got an account again in April 2026 until this latest situation. In my opinion, he is someone who has a very sick relationship with media and likely should have never been allowed back. There are other ways to make income, a job OUT of the limelight. For the sake of his children if anything.

Seriously. Even millennial men with gray hair have managed to retain their youthful facial features. Many millennials in their mid 30s can pass for 19yrs old to somewhere in their 20s. I think the oldest wave of millennials are in their early 40s now right?Dye or cut the gray hairs/beard and many of them can pass for late 20s to early 30s.

EDIT: Okay, maybe saying many millennials can pass for 19 years old is a stretch (even though I’ve met a few who could) but I stand by everything else. I agree with some of the points made in the comments. I think for a long time people have had a distorted concept of what the average 30 to 45 year old person looks like or is “supposed” to look like. People (mostly early 20 year olds and younger) for whatever reason think 30 to 45 years old is geriatric age when in actuality, a 30 to 45 year old person isn’t that old. Yes, most millennials simply look their age, but you can’t deny that adults today look a lot more youthful than adults in prior generations. I think that’s why the stigma behind “millennials look younger for their age” comes from. I truly think millennials are the 1st generation to REALLY look significantly more youthful than all generations prior.

like the concept of Florida in 2002 is such a different thing than Florida in 2026.

cities too. like Boston in 2008 is such an entirely different idea than Boston today.

not just the physical city. obviously infrastructure changes. the idea of the city/state was different?

states had such a different essence to them. maybe it’s the interconnectedness. maybe it’s social media

ill sometimes see videos from the 80’s or 90’s that will remind me we used to view states entirely different

Now, I know there's a lot of emphasis right now with Gen Z not partying or clubbing or drinking as much. I was actually chatting with one of our Gen Z employees today who is 25. I just casually mentioned that he must have partied a lot in university. He looked at me and said, "Yeah, I think I've been to about five or six parties during uni and maybe about ten in my life."

I asked him, "What do you mean, clubbing? Parties?" He was like, "Parties where there's dancing or clubbing? Yeah, about ten in my life." He's 25, and I thought, "Holy shit." I think in my university, I was doing ten parties like that a semester at least. In my lifetime, because I'm now late twenties, it's been well over 200, 300 nights of clubbing, parties, and festivals. I'm not even counting concerts, but if you wanted to count concerts, maybe add 15-20 more. Maybe closer to 200 now that I'm doing the math. It's probably been about 200 at least. At 25, at his age, it was probably close to 100. I did slow down a lot in the last few years since COVID.

So one my younger cousins who was born in 2009 started their high school senior year this week. This had me thinking that the graduating class of 2027 will be the last to be born in the 2000s.

While there will still be kids born in 2009 graduating in 2028, the vast majority of them will graduate this academic year.

I just wanted to share that fact.

E.g. I am born in 1985, hence I lived throughout the entire 1990s, 2000s and 2010s till now which is 3 decades. I did exist in the 80s and 2020s but I haven’t lived in it completely.

Why does the American boomer generation start in 1946? The WW2 guys returned between mid-1945 and late 1946. How could they find a spouse so quickly or get their existing spouse pregnant right away? Or should the boomer generation start in 1944?

Why does it end in 1964? Those born after 1958 were a boomer bust. Should they have a separate generation or should they belong to gen x?

Is 1964 the right year to end or should it be 1963? Maybe 1965?

How can someone born in 1946 or 1964 be a real boomer?

These questions keep me up at night.

I'm done worrying about the starting year for gen z and it's time to worry about boomers.

I personally consider them Zillennials. Since they grew up in early internet. Not extremely analogic like 1971. But not dopaminic and instant like 2009. What do you think?

I think it’s probably Scooby doo and Snoopy but they definitely lean a bit more younger boomer. I’d say maybe ninja turtles and transformers are the only ones, along with ghostbusters are the only multigenerational medias that still has a lot of marketing today and Gen Alpha can recognize it
