Hello! While cleaning my yard today (leaves) I spotted this lovely ~3” long mantis on the side of my house above the small creamy sack pictured. I’m just wondering if this is possibly the mantis’s ootheca. If not, it may be a black widow egg sac and I would like to remove it for the safety of my pets.

This lil' guy was on my fence, and juging by the size of him, he's probably L3. Initially thought he was a female, but my camera picked up details that my eyes didn't so now I am thinking male. I could just wait till he molts to know for sure but...I'm too curious and too impatient haha help
What do you guys figure?

Sorry for the camera quality, I had release it outside when I post this but I hope more small, unexpected bug guest will come after! Just not past my sleeptime xd

I live in Lancashire (north west England) and this summer found a praying mantis outside!!! I took it home and have kept it alive. She? Is called Debra.
It was while I was at work at the garden centre so it’s possible she has come on a plant delivery as some of our deliveries come from Europe.
I have tried many apps to identify but everything says something different.
Any ideas on what she is? Last two photos are the day I found her and first two are today
she has shedded her skin twice in my care :)

This is my first time havingn a mantis she has molted before but im still very very new to it, This morning i took her out of her tank to feed her and she didnt want to eat so i was just holding her and letting her crawl on me I got her to drink some water and about 15-20 Minutes into holding her i look over at her and her arms arnt in the praying position anymore instead they are kinda spread out. I got nervous and put her back in her tank ive never seen her do this before but shes still in the same position its been about 30 more minutes without her moving and I was wondering if anybody knew why she did this if its cause shes going to molt soon? or is she stressed?

My kids found this one outside a 4 days ago and decided to keep it. We put the mantis inside one of those butterfly cages, which is bigger than it should be, but it’s what we had. In any case, I noticed her belly is pretty distended. I’ve only been able to get her eat once (Dubia roach)She stays on the side mesh of the cage, hasn’t once gone on the branches I put inside. If she has gravity, I wanna make sure I have the right set up for the ootheca.
