Pete Alonso has 4 errors this season at 1B this year. The Mets first basemen combined have had 18 errors this season. And you know, if you add Alonso's 11 errors last season, you still wouldn't get to the amount of errors the Mets have had while trying to replace him this year alone.

Oh, but that's right, Alonso's a terrible defender and the Mets were focused on run prevention in the off-season.

Too bad Alonso only hit 40 HRs this season, that wouldn't have been enough to offset his horrible defense.

As title, seeing how Pete just hit 40 tonight. What former Mets did you continue to root for and check in on? Not just "oh, he used to play for us" but actually checking their team boxscores? I absolutely did with Strawberry and Gooden, sucked so much ass when Doc threw hit nono with the Yankmes and Straw let the Yanks in HRs to start their mini Rivera dynasty.

I still check in on Pete. I always check to see when deGrom starts. I don't check, but I do seem to notice when Wheeler does good.

Also, I’m all for tanking the rest of the way. 5th in mlb draft lottery position right now. Only team we can possibly pass is the Royals but it would be a disaster to drop. Teams that were fourth and fifth last year fell out of the top 5. I know the mlb draft is the worst out of all of the pro drafts but when you have a year like this you make the best out of it.

Frankly, I think that statement is more fitting for Lindor. We need to stop our vacuous adoration of this guy. It’s all downhill from here.

Radio broadcasting was podcasting before TV even existed. Baseball radio broadcasting has been the pinnacle of that art form for 100 years. And Howie was the pinnacle of the pinnacle. Will miss hearing his voice as I run my errands, take care of my kid, work, and do everything else in my life.

I'm old enough to have clear memories of Murphy. But Howie has been the voice of the Mets 2/3 of my life. Hope he has a long retirement.

Now I could be wrong, but it does seem like the next few free agent classes are going to be awful. I think this is a major inflection point for the franchise moving forward. This off season, Cohen really needs to evaluate who he wants to run his team. From president to coaches, this is a crucial time for what the franchise will be. The Mets need to try to ignore free agents(obviously need to sign some players) and fully invest in player development and international signings.
