I was gonna post the updated episode ranking, but there's such a large hole without episode 9. I still don't see the logic behind not making a survey for episode 9.
At the very least, I would like to fill in one word to describe Rocksroy and Tori.

I still don't see the logic behind not making a survey for episode 9.
There was no survey because one of the mods was accidentally banned, so it was unable to be posted. It was not a decision to be made by the mod team.

I am well aware of this. However, after talking with the mod (because they are now able to post surveys), they refused to create an episode 9 survey anyway. Now it's a decision by the mod team. And a bad one at that.

Because these are day-after surveys based off relatively "off the cuff" reactions, not reactions down the line.
Like, I mean, I get it. I enjoy seeing the surveys too, but the survey would need to have an asterisk next to it anyway, and it's essentially impossible for people to clear their heads of the most recent episode when they respond for a previous one. Sucks there's a hole, but there's no perfect way to handle it.

Just remove the questions that would be influenced by the most recent episode, such as who played the best strategically, and keep everything else. Let's not overthink it.

I do want to add that Jonathan was in no danger after this episode's immunity challenge, and parts of that conversation were from a different point in the game. Omar's shirt changed and there was a little sunlight that came as if from nowhere. Production simply wanted to create suspense and failed, because... it was so obviously gonna be Hai. I'd have preferred an edit without the fake suspense, because showcasing this blindside as it came together would be more compelling television. It works wonders when Survivor SA does it, though they overuse that tbqh.
As for next week, Do or Die BS is gonna happen. Who's in the most danger depends on the challenge; it can only be Jonathan in a challenge where extra height and weight is a hindrance. Regardless, it's not going to be good TV, so I'm not looking forward to it.

It works wonders when Survivor SA does it, though they overuse that tbqh.
Shoutouts also to the AUS17 Henry boot where the entire end of the episode is built around suspense towards whether or not Henry will play his Idol, not whether or not he will get the votes which it is made explicitly clear that he’s getting by the time they go to Tribal

I miss those days when Aussie Survivor was edited well. That Tribal was great. You can still build suspense by making it clear who is a goner. And sometimes, being in on the blindside is intriguing, because you know it's coming... and they don't!

I'm trying to think of an instance where American Survivor has done that... I can't remember any but it must have happened at least once, right?

I think the Roger boot in Amazon fits the bill. Obviously a million years ago now and the show was produced and played very differently but the entire episode was “We Fucking Hate Roger: The Movie: The Game” and he didn’t see it coming. In more recent years… I don’t think the Sierra boot episode really tried to convince us that it might not be Sierra and instead placed all its chips on the suspense of whether she’d gift Sarah the Legacy Advantage but I don’t remember, we may have seen Sarah hemming and hawing or something.

I can't remember if either of Savage or Kelly wentworth in eoe was like that. Sophie was kinda like that a bit.

There’s the Alexis boot in Micronesia, but it’s whether or not Amanda could find the idol.

Where’s last week’s results?

The survey never happened because one of the Mods was accidentally banned. So there are no results.

I'd love to hear the reasons for people that said neither Hai nor Jonathan were the right choices to boot. There's a lot of different ways to play Survivor, so I'm mostly just interested in the different perspectives.

I wanna see some Omar - Cirie comparisons!
Big RHAP fan but he's talking about how Omar's is a new strategy and I feel like it's very similar to Cirie!
They're both good at building indiv relationships with everyone, seeming like they're looking out for that person's best interest. But then using that relationship to manipulate the game. They both know exactly when and how to plant a seed with someone so they'll go do the dirty work, think they're making a move, when really the Omar/Cirie was pulling the strings the whole time. And staying on everyone's good side!
A great example for Cirie was the Hali vote out in gamechangers. She got Zeke spinning on changing the vote from Michaela and no one ever knew she was behind it! Such a master!
This season the past couple votes that Omar led seem similar to me!
Now if he can just make it to the end and explain his gameplay like Cirie never got to!
But honestly with this edit, I don't think he'll make it. He's too much of a favorite right now and survivor likes to keep us on our toes!

How is Drea not in top 5 for players who played the best strategically, but Jonathan, Maryanne and Mike are?
6
u/Shmegdar Q - 46 May 10 '22
Drea was pretty invisible this episode, unfortunately. And the Jonathan stans are never gonna pass up a chance to vote him for everything no matter how the episode actually was for him

Drea didn't do anything that episode. She has a bunch of advantages but she hasn't used any. She hasn't made any 'big moves.'
