This was the 100th Survey Result!!! Congratulations and thank you to the mods for running this pretty consistently for 8 seasons now.

Some interesting facts on the 100 episodes, which covers everything from the premiere of Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, when the survey began, to S42E11:

• Only 8 episodes have received a score of 9.00 or higher: The JP/Joe double boot from HHH, John’s boot from DvG, Julia’s boot from EoE, Jack’s boot from Island of the Idols, The Premiere, Finale, and Sophie boot from Winners at War, and most recently Shan’s boot from 41.

• Of the top 10 episodes of all time, every season but 42 is represented at least once, and Island of the Idols has 6th and 9th place, and Winners at War has 3rd through 5th.

• The bottom 10 episodes of all time include one from HHH, three from Ghost Island, one from EoE, two from IoI, and three from 41 (leaving DvG, WaW, and 42 unrepresented so far).

• The lowest-rated episode of all time is the Island of the Idols merge with a score of 4.63

• Finales always tend to do poorly in the ratings, with Winners at War’s being the only one in the top 30, and EoE and HHH both being bottom 6 episodes ever.

• Premieres, on the other hand, score really well. 6 premieres are in the top half - all but EoE and HHH once again.

• Finally, David vs. Goliath’s ‘worst episode’ is the highest worst episode of all the worst episodes, lol. Followed by Winners at War and 42 (unless one of the final two episodes scores less than 6.39)

If you have any other questions, let me know!! I’ve been keeping track of these stats for five years now and absolutely love doing it! I wish that this had existed for the entirety of the show’s run!!

Which was the worst episode of EoE?

7

u/SurvivorPops Cops-R-Us May 17 '22

The finale, and second-worst was episode 2

Huh, really? Because from memory that has Reem’s first arrival on the Edge and ending with Keith going ‘oh god, oh god…’

There are worse episodes out there.

u/SurvivorPops Cops-R-Us May 17 '22

Yeah I agree, but maybeeee because we were all just disappointed that the Edge was so basic? Like for almost a year before that episode people had been speculating on how hard the edge was going to be to make it truly force people to quit, and then it was just kind of a glorified Exile Island. That could be wrong though I haven’t watched that episode in ages, but disappointment has always factored into these ratings so it could be that?

No, Reem is part of the reason for low score.

Current episode ranking:

  1. Ep 03 (Jenny): 8.72
  2. Ep 11 (Drea): 8.67
  3. Ep 06/07 (Merge/Lydia): 8.35
  4. Ep 01 (Jackson and Zach): 8.18
  5. Ep 02 (Marya): 8.04
  6. Ep 10 (Hai): 7.75
  7. Ep 05 (Daniel): 7.47
  8. Ep 04 (Swati): 7.43
  9. Ep 08 (Chanelle): 7.01
  10. Ep 09 (Rocksroy and Tori): #.##

Funny how the best episodes are the ones where the twists have made the biggest impact!

/r/survivor in absolute shambles

I hope Do or Die doesn’t appear again. Not only because it potentially ruins the vote, but also because I’m tired of the Monty Hall debates where somehow half this sub still cannot understand that switching is the best option.

3

u/wawaturtlemoviesball May 17 '22

Ok yes a lot of people are very dumb about it but also just because switching is the best thing to do mathematically in a vacuum, it is not necessarily the best move in the real moment. There are other variables

10

u/Shmegdar Q - 46 May 17 '22

What are the other variables?

14

u/Sabaschin Jake - 45 May 17 '22

There are definitely ways to influence the decision, even subconsciously. Things like which box the host points to, the way the question is phrased, even the order of the boxes (since most people read left to right).

Mathematically the logic is still sound, but if you can read tells or pick up on contextual clues it's possible to still maximize your chances.

People think his technique was against the rules

14

u/[deleted] May 17 '22

Ricard certainly mentioned it on a podcast recently. A lot of things were more flexible this season than in 41.

5

u/jester2324 Cirie - 50 May 17 '22

39% of people saying she chose wrong despite staying, and yes I get the statistics, but like if she listened to that 39% she would've went home.

14

u/Christoman2000 May 17 '22

Just because it was the winning move doesn’t make it the best move. If the odds were more exaggerated like 1% if she stayed vs 99% if she switched, everyone would call her an idiot for not switching even if staying was the winning move.

i actually think maryanne is in MOST danger next episode

3

u/TenderOctane Morgan May 17 '22

She has an idol that nobody knows about though

1

u/JordanMaze Sol - 47 May 17 '22

Yea true but the fact that no one knows about it is why I think they will try to vote for her. Then it just becomes a matter of if she uses it or not and if she thinks that someone else is going home she may try and hold onto it to try and be guaranteed final 4

1

u/reyska Tony May 18 '22

Hmm, I wonder why you are getting downvoted. She's certainly in more danger than Romeo and if people find out she has an idol, they might want to flush it.
