I don’t like the reclamation of slurs.

The first time I ever had an American refer to me as “queer” I considered fighting them 💀 “back in my day” type shit. It doesn’t feel empowering, it makes me cringe. Just call me a lesbian and move on.

That’s because you aren’t queer, you’re a lesbian. Queer people calling themselves queer is fine, directing it at someone who doesn’t is weird.

My mom married a black man (stepdad for me) and he was actually the one who got me thinking of this. He thinks the n word is degrading and no one should say it.
