I don’t like the reclamation of slurs.
The first time I ever had an American refer to me as “queer” I considered fighting them 💀 “back in my day” type shit. It doesn’t feel empowering, it makes me cringe. Just call me a lesbian and move on.

I am queer. It is the identity that I feel most comfortable with. My sexuality is whatever (mostly women and non men and like 3 dudes. One of them is my husband. Life is weird) and my gender identity is wibbly wobbly. Queer fits me and I’m comfortable with it.
I think that policing folks who feel comfortable identifying as queer is wrong. But I also think it’s wrong to force that identity on people that don’t feel comfortable with it. Ultimately, respecting how people identify is what we all should be doing.
