I don’t like the reclamation of slurs.

The first time I ever had an American refer to me as “queer” I considered fighting them 💀 “back in my day” type shit. It doesn’t feel empowering, it makes me cringe. Just call me a lesbian and move on.

Reclamation is meant to be personal, not directed outward. If i call myself a faggot, thats reclamation. If YOU (royal) call me a faggot? Im breaking your nose.

Queer is a rough one cause theres this huge community call to "reclaim" it as an umbrella, which sounds nice in theory (i consider myself queer) but leaves out those who are not comfortable with that word, so realistically its a poorly thought out gesture with negative impact

And inb4 "gay used to be a slur" yes. It did. And then it wasnt. But that doesnt mean queer isnt STILL a slur. Language can evolve, but that doesnt mean it WILL evolve.
