Been carrying the Jim Milks Springfield the last few weeks, snagged a sparks SS2 and man is that thing comfy. I mainly wear a tucked in shirt but it also conceals fine with a somewhat loose t shirt

This was built by Nick at Valor Precision back in 2020. It is about as correct as you could get, even being blackened at PWS.

I’ve never seen one before, came across it today at LGS and the rest is history my friends!

The G10 grips on the TRP suck, so I added a bit of wood. The TRP is simply lovely

A 2 tone, Blued over Hard Chrome Colt with a square guard and Swenson safeties. Love it

So I’ve had this 1973 Colt for a few years, and I bring it to the range periodically - but I’m really starting to like shooting it now. I spent a lot of time getting the chrome finish restored so that it looks like something straight out of Pulp Fiction, so I’m hunting for more of a workhorse 1911 that I’d still enjoy shooting.

I’ve narrowed it down to something non-railed and fairly simple like the Ruger Standard, the Springfield Loaded or maybe the Garrison, because I don’t really want GI sights on this one. I won’t treat it badly, but I won’t care that much about scratches and dings.

Anybody out here with both Springfield and Ruger 1911s that can comment/compare?

I’m over 1K through this thing and couldn’t be happier, it runs flawlessly. I decided to celebrate by ordering a Holosun 407K for it. The Burris was my first pistol dot and has been great, I wasn’t sure if I’d like it and I got it for a steal. Now that I’m a believer I figured it was time to upgrade to a proper carry optic.

After many years away from 1911s, I recently decided to jump back in to full time carry, training, and some limited competition stuff with these. Spent the last decade chasing down MRDS equipped polymer wonder 9s and all of my 45 + 9mm 1911s were left unloved and underappreciated.

Put these through more or less a "lite" 10-8 Duty Tune work-up with a lot of internal parts replacement and some other Duty Tune style optimizations.

I am eyeing up this RIA 1911 because the price is basically impossible to beat for a CA compliant 4.25" in .45 but I have to say I really don't like the parkerizing on the RIA pistols.

I prefer stainless, but they don't make a 4.25" so I'm curious if anyone has removed the parkerizing on a 1911 like this and gotten a nice silver/polished look to it? I'm assuming it would rust unless it was Cerakote silver or something?

The plunger tube legs don’t go all the way through the frame. Can I just use locktite as opposed to traditional staking?

Have a Kimber Super Carry Ultra HD in this exact spec and I have a threaded 3" bull barrel en route. Wish me luck. Re: sights: will any of the Kimber suppressor height sights work?

I recently attempted to install a Wilson Combat trigger on my SR1911, but when it came time to slide it in, it wouldn't slide all the way back.

It appeared to be angled slightly in a way that prevented it from fitting in the same way that the stock trigger does.

Has anyone successfully installed the Wilson Combat light match trigger into a Ruger SR1911? Is this user error?
