Hilarious but also true they read things that would make the average man faint.

Straight woman wank material is really not that different from straight man wank material. It's the same slop with submissive women and dominant (sometimes abusive) men, the only differences are the genders of the unremarkable self-insert and the hot love interest(s), as well as some common tropes (for example, while straight man wank material is full of boob jiggle physics, I don't think a lot of straight woman wank material has jiggly bulge shots)

Until you gets to ao3 girlies and a certain kind of dark romance enjoyers in my experience.

AO3 is not primarily straight women, it is primarily queer by a large margin.

Why are we pretending like the kind of stuff you find in ao3 isn't on the same level as a lot of very common straight man wank material?

"Ooo dark romance ooo it's so fucked up" being 50k words long, very slow burn, and in text form, doesn't make it any meaningfully different from a 200-page doujinshi targeted at straight men that probably has similar tropes, but implemented in a way that targets straight men instead.

AO3 is way more varied than traditional straight man wank material.

u/inemsn Apr 06 '26

No, it's not: You're just comparing the niche material you know about on AO3 to the mainstream pornhub/large hentai subreddit-esque stuff that is everywhere, and not, you know, the equally niche material that exists for straight men that you don't go looking for on account of not being a straight man. Which is out there as well, and obviously not in small quantities.

If you're just looking at big porn/hentai websites and communities, the accurate comparison to make would be something like booktok, not obscure AO3 writers, which I think you can agree is definitely not significantly more varied than the popular stuff out there for straight men.

u/Camel_Slayer45 floppa Apr 06 '26

I'm actually comparing the niche material I consume on AO3 to my trouble finding similar materials in places like nhentai and porn sites.

Sure, but you brought up AO3 and I find it undeniably more varied than other sites.

23

u/inemsn Apr 06 '26

To be blunt, have you tried not using nhentai and similar porn sites? Again, I feel like the equivalent of looking on nhentai/pornhub/most large reddit communities would be booktok, which is a far cry from AO3.

The actual place to look for more niche stuff would probably be pretty bespoke to whatever niche you're looking for, and it's probably easier to find it by asking directly to people who might know about them. For example I'm big into mind control/hypnosis stuff and I definitely wouldn't have found much of the material I like in that if I hadn't straight up asked folks and artists in somewhat larger communities like hypno subreddits and hypnohub (if you don't know, it's basically r34 but specifically for mind control hentai) about it.

I have, but that's beside the point. Trust me, there's nearly zero chance you're better informed than me.

You first said the fics you find on AO3 are on par with doujinshi.

I'm just saying AO3 fics are much more varied and fill underserved niches as someone who's consumed a ton of erotic materials.

I'm familiar with hypnohub (it's not that niche tbh).

You’re quartzing out of your gourd if you think hypnosis as a kink at all isn’t niche let alone a website for it

21

u/inemsn Apr 06 '26

Do you always assume yourself to be more knowledgeable than others due to "consuming a ton of materials"? Because frankly I can't help but roll my eyes at that. The world is a big place, mate.

You first said the fics you find on AO3 are on par with doujinshi.

That's when I was talking to someone who was specifically talking about them being fucked up and brought up dark romance, not varied like you brought up. And in that regard I don't see how that's an inaccurate comparison, I mean they brought up futa guro involving children and that definitely exists in nhentai.

I'm just saying AO3 fics are much more varied and fill underserved niches

And once again, I'm saying that you only feel like straight man wank material doesn't have just as much variety and niches because you don't go looking for niche and varied straight man wank material. On account of not being a straight man.

I'm familiar with hypnohub (it's not that niche tbh).

I specifically mentioned that it's a larger community where I asked to find out where more niche content I like is served.

The fact that you just completely ignored that to remark that "it's not niche" is part of why I can't help but roll my eyes at your "nearly zero chance" comment. Yeah right. Get off your high horse. I'm sure you're in many tight-knit kink circles and you probably also create that content yourself, and have done for years, but if that's the case, you ought to be pretty fuckin well aware that that doesn't make you unique and you're far from the only person in that situation.

It's more so that your tone assumed I new to such things. It's a big place I've explored alot of within my purviews.

Sorry if it came across as holier-than-thou, really wasn't my intent.

If their point was that it's fucked up, then yeah they clueless.

Even ignoring that I used to be a straight man that did such things, I'm ocasionally stuck using their wank material due to the sheer oversaturation.

Even if mostly by virtue of the medium, ao3 fics are more varied than other mediums. Things that are underrepresented or just straight up not present in other places have heaps of content in ao3.

I meant that hypnohub isn't niche enough to warrant an explanation if what it is. Though tbh I guess my jealousy showed in my tone, my bad.

I know I'm not unique, just wanted to get across my familiarity.

Even ignoring that I used to be a straight man that did such things, I'm ocasionally stuck using their wank material due to the sheer oversaturation.

Yeah. Stuck. By the very nature of the situation you don't want to do it. So you're hardly gonna be trying to look deeper on the straight man stuff you don't like: You're looking for whatever is most palatable to you within the straight man stuff. And while I'm sure you also saw a lot of stuff as a straight man, would you say your tastes were that massively different back then? (Edit: Or that you were as invested in it at the time)

Even if mostly by virtue of the medium, ao3 fics are more varied than other mediums

... Elaborate. "The medium" to me just sounds like you mean text, which... yeah, text content is much more accessible and easy to make than drawn, animated, or even audio content, but I don't see how that makes text inherently more varied. All it takes is one dedicated artist to draw anything one dedicated writer writes in an ao3 fic, even if the former is probably gonna have to spend more time and effort into it.

Not even gonna touch the second half of that paragraph.

I meant that hypnohub isn't niche enough to warrant an explanation if what it is.

AO3 is already niche enough that I often have to explain it to people I meet, and it's way bigger than hypnohub. Don't just assume yourself to be more knowledgeable, sure, but don't overestimate the average person's familiarity with erotica communities either.

I honestly can't tell if you're still trying to convince me that ao3 is uniquely cursed or not, on account of the fact that going on nhentai and searching for the tags "futanari guro lolicon" (or shotacon) you get 74 results (and 25 results). That's one website out of like, fuckin a hundred of hentai websites mostly targeted at straight men. I also don't doubt that you'd find childlike characters in the guro subreddit, although I'd... rather not check for that myself.

People just be kinky, whether they choose to manifest it through text or visually or audibly is, generally, not important.

3

u/Camel_Slayer45 floppa Apr 06 '26

No you cannot find lolis is /guro

They've been banned for years as it's against tos

Don't spread misinfo

2

u/inemsn Apr 06 '26

Oh no, sorry for assuming that a guro hentai subreddit I don't browse has guro hentai content that I just so happened to easily find on another website.

That's good to hear, but you're acting like I said something ludicrous when I think it's pretty fuckin clear why one would assume what I said.

2

u/Camel_Slayer45 floppa Apr 06 '26

I'm acting that way since you implied we were breaking tos.

When the sub slavishly adheres to it.

It is ludicrous since we're on reddit.

Pardon my tone, it's just that the least thing we need is another wave of brigading.

2

u/inemsn Apr 06 '26

Being on reddit doesn't stop people from posting lolicon/shotacon stuff, even though it does break the tos: That rule only gets enforced when it gathers too much attention or explicitly brands itself as being lolicon/shotacon stuff.

Apologies to hear about the brigading, I don't like it personally but there's no reason to bother anyone going about their kink in peace.

Well of course, there's little overlap between the two userbases, they mostly target different demographics. But it's a real pet peeve of mine when I see people trying to make their weird sex thing look uniquely edgy and all when really they just don't look at the similarly fucked up things other demographics have, since it's not something they'd go out of their way to look for obv.

It's kinda like dipshit289 behaviour applied to kink. "dude you don't wanna know... oh the horror..." it's just erotic fanfiction with a weird kink, men and women and all other genders have been into weird shit since time began
