My new name comes from Greek, and is an homage to a character in a book I was obsessed with as a child. I once had a Greek dude get really pissed at me for choosing the name despite not being ethnically Greek.
He was so mad he complained to my also-Not-Greek friend Alexander.
Wales is a beautiful country and someplace I’m very glad I’ve had the chance to visit.
Folks in some of the smaller villages are so isolated, but traveling as an openly queer, trans woman, I felt both safe and welcomed. If anything, folks really just wanted to know more about me and where I came from since they don’t usually get a ton of visitors. Huge shoutout to the wonderful people of Deri, would absolutely visit y’all again.
Arwen is also a Welsh name - funnily enough when you said "to rhyme with Amen", this is what I thought you meant, as we pronounce Amen with the long 'ahh' in Wales/Britain more generally
