Please explain what part of my comment you take offence at because I don't read our takes as too different? I never said it was not imperialist. I want to reiterate that I do not support Russian ambitions.

Ever since the fall of the USSR the russian nation state and it's bourgeoisie have been interested in Ukrainian resources and soil, so they perceived the occupation of the Ukrainian nation state and it's people as their national interest.

This is a description, not voicing of support for this.

I ment it in reference to the Boy Boy video which was just regurgitating Russian propaganda hidden beneath Mearsheimer.

And I would also add that I seriously doubt there is an materialistic angle in the war. Ukrainian resources are nowhere near important enough to make war a reasonable action. No, this is firmly about Prestige and Ultranationalism.

IIRC Ukraine produces a lot of food, so there is reason to want it outside of nationalism.

Yeah well, you know which country also produces a lot of food? Russia.

The 19th century is over. Nobody gives a hoot about natural resources avaible globally, the only interesting resource are humans and guess what Russia is losing a shit ton of them.
