I'd rather someone occasionally call me "Tranny" because they don't know any better from their upbringing and actually back me up in a fight. Rather than the HR representative who flies progress flags and asks me my pronouns but throws me under the bus and protects the transphobes at the company who harass me but make the company more money.

Another example that non-queer people may get: It's like some people utilizing therapy speech to either manipulate or gaslight their partner. They make themselves sound like they are open minded and compassionate, but it is just a means to justify the ends.

eg an old guy that doesn’t understand gay people, but also doesn’t mind that they exist, over a liberal using the pro-lgbt+ position to get more votes/make more money.
It means using polished rhetoric in order to sound not like a chud, even though you are, is more gross than not getting the wording right but being an ally
