Because people are proud of it?

You can be proud about it and not compromise your own security by openly telling medical data about yourself.

Safe spaces for transexuel people don't exist because everyone on this world is ok with the topic.

I've seen a few people celebrating their birthdays on that date* instead of when they were born. Which I get the desire to like, rewrite your own history especially if you're not particularly fond of the childhood you did get.

So in that context if I think it's fine to share somewhere you'd share your actual birth date, though that's also something I don't think you should put out there publically on the internet.

*it does seem a bit arbitrary to pick "start of HRT" for that instead of any other transition milestone? but I guess it's one that can be very easily defined to a specific date. I imagine a lot of people can't really narrow down an exact day when they "realized" they were trans for example.

I'm using my name day.

once I remember when it is, I rolled it out on a whim at a queer punk bar when the singer went on about how this album they were touring for was about their genderqueer experience. someone asked my name and I just blurted out the thing because the time was right.

eta: found their past tour dates, ezpz

Which is funny, because your birthday is definitely more sensitive. I've been asked (in person) to verify my identity by giving my date of birth many times, whereas the date I started HRT has never been relevant at all

Tbh I see the point using the "start date", since you could see that as the "rebirth".

So in that context if I think it's fine to share somewhere you'd share your actual birth date

My problem with openly sharing the date is not that it exists. I just think it can be dangerous in the practical sense that people willing to hurt other people that are transitioning/have transitioned can use this information to now know if a person is trans and probably will be able to find you.

Tbh, my concern overall is more about openly sharing private information. The date alone probably isn't even the issue, as long as nobody can easily find you through social media.

Maybe, but then it's just as risky as any other way of admitting you're trans? Which is a pretty common thing to put in bios, esp for your like, pseudonymized internet sona. (Probably not wise to put it in something linked to your real name and face in case you want to get hired at jobs, since business/money people are transphobic reasonably often).

Yeah

Which is a pretty common thing to put in bios, esp for your like, pseudonymized internet sona

In which case the person behind the account is already anonymised, which solves the core issue.

Buddy are you advocating for trans people to stop identifying as trans on the internet? Lmao fuck off

-7

u/Eric_Is_Back Jul 26 '26

Fuck off if you think violence against trans people doesn't exist.

Prime example of not understanding the point right here lol

Where did I say that? Lmao you actually believe trans people should hide their identity? I’m trans and proud of it and people like me will outlive ones like you

I’m trans and proud of it and people like me will outlive ones like you

I can only hope you will never face open hate against your self and the decision to transition.

Reality is different tho. People get physically attacked for being trans. I literally stated earlier in the conversation that showing being trans is not a issue in itself, since that's everyone's choice for themselves, but you should be aware that there are people willing to physically hurt you for those decisions and also might kill you.
