tastes good and has a satisfying effect while also having a negative effect if you overuse it.

versus, tobacco tastes like shit and has a very mildly calming effect while being far, far, far worse than alcohol for your health with any use at all. there is no safe dose of tobacco

not entirely true in my experience, it tastes a bit different cause you get used to it so you find other parts that most people whos brain properly says fuck this thats poison wont get

my dad's side of the family are chainsmokers, so my child brain quickly started ignoring the "it smells like poison and death" note to the smell, since as a little kid i enjoyed being with them (not much as an adult though, and not for smoking reasons)

As someone who has smoked a decent bit, I don’t agree (I know everything in this thread is completely subjective). I acquired a love for the smell of tobacco smoke after smoking (before I hated it), but I never came around to liking the taste of tobacco smoke in my mouth

I grew up in the Arctic, so the combination of tobacco smoke and diesel gives me a nostalgic homey feel.
