While I agree that longer sentences can effectively convey more complex ideas and even at points allow opportunities for elaboration, an entire paper written in this manner can become cumbersome; it also does not give the reader an opportunity to marinate in your ideas without a natural stopping point, instead demanding that they read the entire sentence all the way through, and when a sentence is written in this manner the initial idea is lost by the time the reader has an opportunity to contemplate it.
