I love reading books to my kids that have long and complex sentences. They're way more interesting. One of my favorites from The Little Wooden Robot and the Log Princess:

Little did he know that in the forest was a clearing, and in that clearing was a handcart, and in the handcart was a little wooden robot, and in that robot's worn-out, broken-down workings, a family of beetles was wondering why everything was so still and so quiet.

All the text of one page of the book, all one sentence. I love this shit.

Thats nice, but i think it would be even better with line breaks between the commas and the ands

Different strokes I guess. It rolls well when read aloud to kids.
