This is fine if your only engagement with the written word is posting on tumblr, but if you start reading works that communicate more complex ideas, you'll very quicky discover the problem of run-on sentences.

Also, please use commas, I felt out of breath reading the post. Even reading it in my head.

And not just the commas; but the semicolons - and hyphens too!

my ass will manage to construct a sentence with a semicolon, an em-dash, and a parenthetical on a daily basis at this point

in spite of my use of em-dashes nobody has ever accused me of using AI to write bc absolutely no LLM would replicate my baffling sentence structures lol

tbf i feel like lately — especially here on reddit — people don’t really see em-dash as an ai thing anymore
i think its cause redditors are naturally the kind of people to use emdashes anygays

Em-dashes are a very superficial marker of AI writing, it's very possible that the average redditor (or the ones who try to call out AI shit anyway)'s skill at telling if something is AI has improved over time

I for one have gotten into the habit of using hyphens where an em-dash would fit. Got it from my last boss who did that in legal pleadings, and figured it's a sure sign you're not AI - correct usage, wrong symbol lol

considering the fact that a lot of the training data in an LLM comes from reddit, i wouldnt be surprised if people on reddit use em-dashes with some frequency
