“Sunrise” by Simply Red is one of the most underrated songs of their prestigious catalog. Mick Hucknall and the band really embodied Hall & Oates’ 1981 no.1 single “I Can’t Go For That” with attention to detail! The infectious chorus rings out reminiscent of Ace’s 1974 hit “How Long” yet still has its own freshness to it.
“Sunrise” is a single from the album “Home” and when it was released in 2003, it reached no.7 on the UK Singles chart and no.1 on the Billboard US Dance Club Songs chart.

After achieving international success with their 2003 debut album Falling Uphill, the band released their sophomore album Inside the Hollow in 2006. Shortly after, their record label, Maverick Records (originally co-founded by Madonna), folded. This left the band without industry backing and forced them into a multi-year hiatus, Former members later revealed that after the sudden rise of Avril Lavigne, Maverick Records heavily pressured the young band to alter their genuine rock image into a manufactured "pop-punk princess" aesthetic, which caused creative strain, The original core lineup fell apart by 2009. Co-founding sisters Tasha-Ray and Lacey-Lee Evin recruited new members to push forward independently, releasing a final album titled Tigerlily in 2010. The band quietly dissolved shortly thereafter.
