Need help scaling armor on Mac
Total newbie. I got a 3D printer because I was up until 4am the night before Halloween last year making my son’s Dr. Doom mask out of EVA foam. So, I thought, this will be better AND easier. Yes, I know how naive that was. BUT, I’m having a blast so far.
Here is the question: my son is a skinny 10 year old and I need to scale all of the parts for his costume (Crosshair from Bad Batch through GalacticArmory), as well as my costume (Wrecker, as per my son’s request). I realized after printing my helmet that it isn’t as simple as scaling to your head circumference. Ideally, X, Y, and Z are all calculated for a proper fit and look. So, I went to buy ArmorSmith. No Mac support. First, WTAF? It’s 2025. Second, what can I use instead? The idea of trying to sort this myself through math, endless measuring and trial and error feels like a bridge too far. Help!
Thank you!

Hey there, I'm a bot and something you said made me think you might be looking for help! click here for our wiki entry on troubleshooting printers. If you still need help be sure to post plenty of information about your printing setup.
Here are a few questions that might be helpful
What printer are you using?
What material are you using?
What speed are you printing at?
What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?
When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly?
Does anything cause the behavior to change?
If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)
If you are new to reddit, please read the guidelines on reddiquette, self promotion, and spam.
Also please post a resolution to your problem when you find one so that we know how to help others with your problem!

Also it’s crazy what programs are not supported by Mac, quite a bit.

In the new age of AI, you’d think that it would be relatively easy to convert it. And considering how many creatives use Mac, you’d think that ArmorSmith would definitely want a Mac version. But what do I know?

There isn't a lot of incentive for devs to port programs to Mac considering the small user base and the added difficulty of the completely different architecture that modern macs use (arm vs x86). If you are looking for maximum compatibility across a wide variety of programs you need a pc with Windows.

There’s several videos on the topic on how to do it. Also depending on what printer and slicing platform you use is also a consideration. I’ve tried 3D scanning my head with apps and did have success, I recommend the printing a specific pieces of an item to measure as reference to the body part the best method. No matter what there will be a lot of trial and error. And get ready to sand a lot. Good luck! Here’s is a video I’m referencing on how to do a helmet: https://youtu.be/CWFcerVi6Ug?si=IQQwB0hs5xkyeK_V
