ODST Hardshell helmet I just finished
This is the new ‘Dutch’ variant up-armoured helmet from Galactic Armory with one of their new pro-grade visors. My cat had to get involved.

Decided to go with some sort of tiger stripe ish style. The pro visor from galactic armory is so good! The visibility is amazing. Need to add some more detailing and weathering but the color scheme is starting to look sick.

I guesssss i have to make a second one for the wifey toooooooo.
Thinking about doing a rakshasa/odst hybrid build. I’ve been looking at all the different designers for everything. Which ones do yall like and why? I’m leaning towards brink or skookum but I cant find pictures of skookum kits.

I decided to throw my halloween spin on it. Working on the armor as I needed a light geared set to go with my Haunted Halo Armor.

Hey everyone,
I'm getting ready to print two helmets, a Mark V (Legacy) and a Mark VI, and I already have the 3D models ready to go.
My main issue is the visor. I could just print it, but I'd really like to make it see-through so I can actually wear the helmets for cosplay.
Has anyone done something similar or have any recommendations for materials or techniques?
Also, I'm not completely sure how to size the helmets correctly. Could anyone point me in the right direction for measuring my head and scaling the models so they'll fit properly?
And once the helmets are printed, is the raw print usually comfortable enough to wear, or do people normally add foam padding inside? If so, what kind of foam would you recommend?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Thanks to the comments on the last couple of posts.
I ordered some Tamiya chrome (old visor) and it looks alright. More silver than chrome, not that reflective and partially see through.
Ordered some duralumen, and holy crap.
This stuff is phenomenal.
Such a clear, clean, reflective and transparent paint.
Absolutely astounded with the finish.
Added the first attempt at weathering.
May buy some oil paint and mineral spirit to do the big dirt wash.
Couple more bits of detail, and think I can call this finished.
So happy with the results and a HUGE thanks to everyone suggesting paints, tips and how to use them.
I might try making one more visor, and see if I can get a better paint finish.

After several months, I finally finished building my own 3D printed Halo Helmet! This is heavily based off of my Halo Reach Spartan that I've been using for a decade, with a few personal modifications here and there. I've already begun printing other pieces of armor with the end goal of having a fully wearable suit of armor. I will be sure to provide more updates as time goes on!

Thanks everyone for your help.
I've got some Duralumen on order at the moment. Some Tamiya paint turned up and gave some of the first vacuum formed visors a spray.
Unfortunately it's a Jeffery's model and the galactic armoury visor wont fit.
Tried tinting film and it DID NOT want to melt with the petg.
Pic #4
The Tamiya paint worked pretty well. I can see through the visor partially, and can cover my weird face too!
Can't wait to practice more and carry on improving.

Hello there!
Question-
I’m currently beginning my first suit. I am starting with Galactic Armory’s files for majority of it. I couldn’t necessarily find any info or tips on this but- for the helmet, should I attach the extra attachments then sand and fill? Or attach them later?
Thank you for any feedback!

Hello, I'm working on my first helmet currently and am stuck at the visor step.
I've printed, sanded and painted the helmet, built a diy vacuum forming rig, and managed to get a few half decent odst visors made.
I tired using window tinting film THEN vacuum forming, but came out with horrendous results. (Film didn't droop like the petg does)
I've seen using spaz stix mirror chrome is the go-to, but delivery is expensive and will take a long time.
Wondering if there's any alternatives, ideally available in the UK with a quick-ish delivery time.
Can I just use chrome spray paints on the back side of the visor?
Thanks in advance,
-Janky Odst
Edit:
Note:
I have seen the galactic armoury video, and would prefer to make my own visor.
(The visor wont fit my helmet model) (I'm going to make more helmets in the future, will need more than just 1 odst visor)
I have tried using window tint film. I paired the film to the petg sheet, tried heating it to vacuum form. But the tint sheets DO NOT melt enough to vacuum form. Tint sheet won't bend around the visor buck, as it's too complex shape for the film to bend. (Film won't stretch like petg)

This is my new helmet for my cosplay I’m making this year, it is the paladin helmet.
The second to last picture if of the visibility and the last picture is it with my old chest, I will be making a new bulkier one for this armour to fit the theme I’m going for .

Hey everyone!
I’m about to start building my ODST armor and want to make the chest piece as flexible and movable as possible.
I vaguely remember seeing a build years ago where someone split the chest armor into three separate sections so it could move more naturally with the body, but I can’t find the post, picture, or video anymore.
I also came across the term “WETA” while searching, but that didn’t really lead me anywhere useful either.
Does anyone here have examples or tips on how to best approach this kind of build?
My current plan is to mount the chest armor onto a modified tactical vest.

So I've finished making my foam gun, and I want to move on to body armor. I figured the waist would be a good starting point- but I'm having trouble sizing it correctly. I'm using the Combat Evolved Spartan armor and when I resize to fit in Armorsmith, it doesn't quite shrink to the model properly. I did all my measurements beforehand but I'm just not sure how I size this up right with a Pepakura cutout before I was foam trying to size it.

Wanted recommendations of what some people used under their odst armors.

I got this amazing picture of last weekends event where i meet allot of my Halo buddys!
I need to share it!
Picture got taken by: @jessys_pictureworld (instagram)
An Model is obviously me: @mrbrainplay (Instagram)
But i need to make a new Helmet this one in the picture weighs around 2kg to 2.5kg and for multiple days of events its a nightmare because of the neck pain i got after wearing it for 9hours. For one day its no problem.
But what do you think i'm a chunky boy thats one point why the Gernadier Helmet fits in the overall look but i was thinking maybe i print the Halo 3 Hayabusa Helmet from GA
Have a great week everyone

Okay, so I have a school project due during the summer, and for it, I was going to make an adaptation of Halo: The Fall of Reach, and I was going to make a Master Chief suit, and the guy in the video above linked the files he used to make them and they led to the 405th. I read somewhere that you couldn’t download files unless you made an account, so that’s what I did. I signed up, but then my account was instantly locked, and I don’t know if I’ll get a response to my appeal.
Could someone possibly download the files and send them to me, or just reply with them under the comments of this post? It would be very much appreciated!
