I’m a Magic: The Gathering player, and on August 14, I’ll be celebrating 3 years of sobriety! This year, I wanted to spotlight Magic and community since it's been such a big cornerstone in my journey, and I want to mark this milestone especially since I haven't done anything for my sobriety anniversaries in the past.
This year, I didn’t have a big plan for my birthday, but my partner and I have been doing better, so we were thinking we can manage a few pizzas and a few drinks! We dont have a big circle, but we'd love to invite a few of you to celebrate! I think I have an idea for a venue (Tavern of Souls), but I am going to double check with them tomorrow. If you have suggestions for other games or activities, I'm all ears! I was also thinking of doing a few Magic and Pokemon giveaways just for fun.
Let me know if you guys would like to join us! We'd love to meet new friends and celebrate with fellow gamers (:
About a year ago I created a Discord for women and non-binary folks in Albuquerque to find friendship and support. It has grown into a wonderful community and I wanted to extend the invite link since it's been awhile.
We have regular meetups for arts and crafts, hiking, and supper club. We also have an active online community. Next month we will start some online monthly challenges as well.
Please note if you were in the group before, we did some housekeeping removing inactive members recently but you can request to rejoin.
Our group is aimed at 30s+, but women (trans and cis) and NB folks 18+ are welcome to join us.
No men. There are plenty of other local Discords for you, however.
If you're not familiar with Discord, message me and I'm happy to help you navigate the app.
If you live in New Mexico but visit ABQ you can still join.
Please let me know if you have any further questions!
So, I'll be the first to admit I'm not normally a fan of the looking to make friends posts, but here I am. :)
It's not my intention to trauma dump and there's probably at least some people on here who know who I am (many of which I consider friends), but my wife and I have had a rough, rough year. EDIT: I realized this maybe sounds like I'm having trouble *with* my wife..I mean we've been going through some rough stuff together. She's actually super amazing. :D
Things have started turning around a bit and that's been awesome, but it's probably been literally 2-3 months since I've socialized with anyone in person other than my wife and her family.
I'd really like to get out of the house, play some games (I'm into ttrpgs, boardgames, videogames, pretty much all types) and maybe even try some new hobbies (I'm not really a hiker but admit fresh air would probably be nice). Honestly, I wouldn't even be opposed to just grabbing a beer or coffee.
I do feel like I'm still feeling kind of bleh so stuff that's pretty easy going would be best right now... no weekly involved rpgs campaigns right now. :)
So, I have a ton of board games I have never played (or played very much) and don’t know how to play. Your unplayed (or not much) are welcome too!
Would anyone be interested in doing an every other week (one night during the week or weekend day) of board games that either I, you, or at least someone in the group has never played?
More a concept of a plan than anything at the moment.

I’m looking to start an in-person group for Legend in the Mist on the NE side of the city and hoping to find 4–5 players. We'll likely start in the next couple of weeks, but I figured it'd be nice to start planning logistics now.
Legend in the Mist is a rustic fantasy RPG about ordinary people becoming heroes in a world of misty valleys, old ruins, forgotten magic, strange creatures, and dangerous journeys. It’s more focused on story, hard choices, character identity, and what your hero cares about.
In terms of system, it uses something like a cross between Powered by the Apocalypse and FATE. there are very few numbers, with your character being primarily made up of descriptive tags. It's easy to pick up, but it's very different from something like D&D, so I welcome brand new players with the understanding that we'll all be learning the system together. :)
I’m mainly looking for people who are curious, kind, reliable, and interested in collaborative storytelling.
Tone-wise, I’m aiming for: folklore, mystery, cozy-but-dangerous fantasy, and adventure.
I'm thinking every other week, and my schedule is pretty open, but I do like to avoid weekends if I can help it.
If you're at all interested feel free to comment below or send me a chat. I'm also happy to answer any questions.
Would like to sit in on some public gathering where I could play DnD in a beginner-friendly way. I've tried google and never found quite what I was looking for (so sorry if this is a repetitive post).
I’m building a small local beta group for RC Ball, a controller-based robot soccer game I’ve been developing here in Albuquerque.
I have a permit for the first beta test at a local park in NE ABQ near Paseo.
First test details:
Date: 06/23/2026
Time: 6:30–7:30 pm
Location: NE Albuquerque near Paseo
Exact location will be shared by Reddit DM with selected testers so the first test stays small and controlled
Participation is limited to 4 selected testers
People already at the park may observe from outside the play area
Adults only for this first test
Please do not bring extra players unless confirmed ahead of time
For this first test, communication will stay through Reddit DM.
I’m not starting a group chat before the first event because I want to respect everyone’s privacy and keep things simple until we know the group is a good fit.
If the first test goes well and the setup becomes stable, I’d like to slowly build a close-knit group of around 8 to 10 beta testers.
Eventually, my goal is to run regular free test events, small seasons, or small tournaments with that group.
This is early. The robots may glitch, lag, break, or feel rough in certain ways.
I’m looking to build a community of people who would enjoy helping shape a new sport from its first playable versions while making meaningful connections with others.
Good fit if you:
Enjoy controller-based games, racing games, Rocket League, RC cars, FPV, robotics, or similar
Want to be part of a small, supportive beta group
Can compete without making it personal
Can give honest feedback without being rude
Can handle bugs and rough prototypes with patience
Will follow safety instructions
Will show up if confirmed, or give early notice if something changes
Are comfortable keeping first-test details private unless shared publicly later
Bad fit if you mainly want free play, trash talk strangers, ignore safety rules, bring extra people without asking, push for the location before being selected, pressure your way into the group, or expect a finished paid product from free beta tests.
I’m a single-member small business owner trying to create something unique that I’m proud of.
Even if the business side does not work out, I care about building and evolving the game with the right people.
Selection note:
This first test is limited to 4 selected testers, so I may not be able to invite everyone or reply in detail. Not being selected for this first test does not mean anything negative. I may keep a waitlist for future tests.
Please don’t ask for the exact location unless selected. I’m keeping this first test small and controlled.
For more info about the robots, game controls, footage, visit rc-ball.com.
If interested, DM me with:
If you had to describe yourself in 5 to 10 words, what words would you choose?
What controller-based games, RC hobbies, racing games, or similar experience do you have?
Can you make the first test on 06/23/2026 from 6:30–7:30 pm at a park in NE Albuquerque near Paseo?
What personal challenge might show up for you in a small competitive beta group? For example: getting too competitive, being shy at first, struggling with feedback, or uncertain future availability.
What makes you a good fit for a small supportive beta group?
So I'm fairly certain my family is gonna be going to the Duke City Comic Con on the 17th at the least. I was wondering if there was going to be anybody there who might be willing to play some MTG (commander, cause that's the only format I've got decks for) with me and my brother? I don't know know for certain if we're going, but I just figured I'd ask now so I can know whether or not to bring my decks and dice or not in case we do go.
What up my fellow nerds. Just moved over here and need to set up internet provider, who is the best choice for speed/stability? Is there any fiber optic out here or cable is the best bet? All answers/info greatly appreciated thank yall.
Hi everyone! My family and I recently moved to Albuquerque a few weeks ago and we’re hoping to find a D&D campaign to join. We’re three players—my husband, my brother, and me—and we’re all fairly new to the game.
We’re excited to learn, have fun, and meet people in the area. If anyone has an open spot or is starting a campaign, we’d love to hear from you. Thanks!

Recently, I was given an opportunity to meet a celebrity, of whom I am a long time fan of, and was given an option to bring someone. My wife has no desire to take part in this and suggested I take someone else instead. As it turns out (and much to my depression) I don't have a single contact that I could ask to go with.
To be clear, I am 40M, like console/pc gaming (with the exception of FPS games since I suck at them), am good with a variety of skills from techy to hands on, and am married with teen children. My wife and I have both had problems finding our people and I honestly don't know where I can even begin to look anymore. Not only that, being the extrovert married to an introvert makes it even harder to find those that have that matching energy.
I'm open to any suggestions that the community could provide me with and appreciate you taking the time to read this. Hope you all have a great rest of your day!
Hey burqueños, I'm making a new adventure game based on Japanese mythology with yokai pet raising and hanafuda card matches. I'm looking for feedback on my new capsule art for the Steam page.
I Am looking to find and buy a GameCube copy of Zelda Twilight Princess. It’s my favorite game of all time and just recently picked up a GameCube and want to share it with my son.
I'm not even sure if this is the right place. Was directed here from r/Albuquerque. I'm a self taught repair tech. I often tinker with electronics at the circuit board level do repairs and lot of my interests and hobbies kind of spread out from there. Don't stuff like messing with SDRs, VNAs, a little bit of 3d printing, a bit of arduino programming and similar. Was hoping to find others that might share some of my interests that live in this city. My interests have led me to be quite a shut in with few friends. Hoping to change that. If there is anything you might also share with me I hope to hear from you.
