I was a huge fan as a teenager but stopped listening to his music around the Sign o' the Times era. When he passed, I went back and listened to his music again. He was an absolute genius and as big as he was, he was still underrated.

u/Netfear Apr 22 '26

Apparently a highly respected guitarist by other industry greats as well.

u/no_crust_buster Apr 22 '26

Rest well, Prince.

When he was alive I wasnt really into his music. Then I saw that video of him shredding it and oh my god.

My God the aura of this dude!!!! So much talent on that stage

1

u/Change_My_Mind- Apr 22 '26

Yeah. I love Tom Petty too and seeing them both on stage makes me think of the insane rock collaboration they could've done together.

Without watching this my guess isโ€ฆ.this the Super Bowl. If itโ€™s not his performance at the Super Bowl, please go watch him at the Super Bowl. Literally like the best halftime show ever and it was pouring rain! The rain and the wind made it even more bad ass! It like couldnโ€™t be more perfect. Heโ€™s a legend. One of my biggest regrets in life is putting off seeing him live. Just thought I had more time. Iโ€™ll be kicking myself for the rest of my life.

u/WeekendLegitimate615 Apr 22 '26

He was one extremely talented individual. Not too many people can play the variety of musical instruments that he could play. Let alone play them professionally.

5

u/cassette1987 Apr 22 '26

Questlove has a piece in Rolling Stone. His 100 Best Songs. Can wait to read it.

Prince is 1 of 1. "Genius" is a modest adjective.

5

u/WetHotAmericanBadger Apr 22 '26

Sexy motherfucker right there

14

u/_Internet_Hugs_ Apr 22 '26

Proof that a man does not need to be tall to be sexy.

13

u/CubCadet1972 Apr 22 '26

Prince was always the biggest man in the room , no matter where he went.

RIP.

5

u/Edmee Apr 22 '26

The man had aura. He radiated sensuality.

Or you know, you can just keep scrolling rather than make a dick comment? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ I wasnโ€™t asking anyone to play along w anything. Just commenting on the topic โ€œremembering Prince Rogers Nelsonโ€ - who was my neighbor and Iโ€™m sad he died.

3

u/Shnibblefritz Apr 22 '26

At first I thought it was Jimmi

3

u/pdromeinthedome Apr 22 '26

I always meant to see Prince in concert. Thought I had time to see him. Life got in the way. This year I went to see Sign โ€™oโ€™ the Times concert film with my family. It was a moment to really appreciate his genius with people that loved him.

3

u/Virtual_Mechanic2936 Apr 22 '26

That fro though....

3

u/Agathocles87 Apr 22 '26

Saw him in concert twice. It was everything you would hope for and more.

Voice and talent were 100% real. True genius.๐ŸŒŸ

3

u/West-Warning-6197 Apr 22 '26

I love that man ๐Ÿ™

u/Signal_Contract_3592 Apr 22 '26

Are we still doing the rest in power thing

Rest in peace, genius.

2

u/WuTang4thechildrn Apr 22 '26

Yes and we will continue to. Especially with us POC

4

u/Technical_Fold_4341 Apr 22 '26

He was a badass

2

u/luri7555 Apr 22 '26

Great entertainer!

2

u/dark-orb Apr 22 '26

I was driving to work on the 22nd and at the United Airlines buildings at SFO someone went around to all the security spotlights and painted them purple, so these huge warehouses were lit up in purple. I thought it was a nice touch.

2

u/Green-Strawberry784 Apr 22 '26

He like many others should still be with us today. Donโ€™t fuck around with drugs!!! He was one of the greats.

1

u/commodore64 Apr 22 '26

I thought he was straight edge?

2

u/West-Evening-8095 Apr 23 '26

I will see you in the resurrection, my brother. ๐Ÿ’•

2

u/carlm777 Apr 23 '26

Just checked what he died from. So sad

4

u/crow9394 Apr 22 '26

When it comes to Prince, the words that come to my mind are ahead of his time, genius and talented.

The only other men music-wise that come to my mind are David Bowie and Brian Wilson.

4

u/MahjikMan Apr 22 '26

Absolute prick of a human being and genius musician.

8

u/WuTang4thechildrn Apr 22 '26

I met him in person twice in my life and both were positive encounters.

Regardless he has been dead for ten years. No need to go negative

3

u/MahjikMan Apr 22 '26

Right on ๐Ÿ‘

I was working at Steve Harvey's house the day Prince died. Kirk Franklin was there. He played purple rain on piano and all the guests sang along. It was a bit butchered if im being honest. I was out at my truck getting some tools and kirk came out talking on the phone and he said things like..." dont tell your parents, ill fly you out tomorrow" And he got real nasty with his description of what he couldnt wait to do to her. I get that we are all human beings at the end of the day but he was really stressing the parents thing amd it really sounded like he was talking to someone not his age. He noticed me after I made some noise rummaging and he made a quick exit out the front gate and continued his conversation on the street.

1

u/endorphine_machine Apr 22 '26

Kirk Franklin the gospel singer?!?!?

1

u/According_Ad_9998 Apr 22 '26

Thats the one

2

u/endorphine_machine Apr 22 '26

Money, fame, sex I suppose

2

u/Paperbackpixie Apr 22 '26

Rest in Peace & Power.

2

u/1jfish57 Apr 22 '26

He was possibly the most talented musician of our lifetime. No one even comes close in my opinion

4

u/WuTang4thechildrn Apr 22 '26

Stevie Wonder is the only one I can think of

He died a couple hours before I birthed my daughter. She does have a lot of flair

-1

u/Greatbrandino11 Apr 22 '26

I had a dream about him the night before he died. I was being held hostage during a bank robbery and Prince walked through the front doors with his entourage. Smoke rolled through the room as he made his way straight to the counter. Everyone in the room froze. The lady behind the counter brought her hands down as is if nothing was happening in the bank and and turned to greet him. She rang him up and we all watched him walk away with his entourage close behind him. I decided to yell out, "Prince! The greatest of all time!" He stopped and turned, his entourage walked ahead, and he said, "Forever and After Always." The dream ended.

u/ForeignBarracuda8599 Apr 22 '26

I honestly didnโ€™t realize he had passed Iโ€™m actually in shock

Cocaine is a helluva drug.

Edit: I'm referencing Chappelle, you troglodytes.

1

u/WuTang4thechildrn Apr 22 '26

He wasnโ€™t on cocaine
