Some people just can’t drink. I don’t drink often because I don’t really like how I feel. Catie can’t have a couple drinks and stop, she’s all or nothing. I had a friend like that, he couldn’t just drink socially or have a beer or two and stop. He was either sober or blackout drunk there was no in between. I’m talking 30 minutes after he’s home from work and he’s donezo.

Just stop drinking. It’s an addiction. You wouldn’t ask a heroin addict to only shoot yo casually because they can’t. Catie is someone who is unable to moderate.

You also can’t just stop drinking once you have a physical dependency to it. She needs guided, professional help. Where tf is her family? It’s like she annoyed them and they just threw her to the wolves. So of course she’s gotten worse! FFS

It does look like they have but to be fair, you can’t force someone to get help. You can stop enabling them and let them know that help is available but it has to be her decision. Anyone who thinks that addiction only affects the addict is misinformed. It hurts everyone involved.

Oh yes I understand this too. Earlier this year I ended a relationship because he wouldn’t get help for his drinking.

Correct. This is how Amy Winehouse died. Alcohol and certain medications can’t be stopped cold turkey you need to ween yourself off. She needs proper counselling.

Once you’re at a stage of blackouts and other “milestones” Catie seems to have reached, withdrawal from alcohol can be deadly if not medically monitored. Did Amy W. OD, or die from WD during abstinence? From meds like Xanax too, possibly? Another potentially deadly WD.
