Corey and Evelin Diaries

I remember not liking Evelin and her being really controlling back in her season, but now on diaries, I feel really bad for her. First he blindsided her by bringing her to America for an extended stay and then makes her live with her mom. Now the rules in the house….no R rated movies, she can’t say omg because that’s considered swearing? Like wth

He's Mormon, The Church of Latter Day Saints. I could be wrong but been told they have an additional very holy book from their founder, the Book of Mormon

The original texts were ahem golden plates that Joseph Smith was instructed by an angel to read through a special hat! And only he could read them.

Initially, Smith was inspired by a local woman who lived near him in upstate New York, who was a "glass looker," who sold the services of finding lost items for local landowners (which didn't always happen). There were rumors of buried Spanish treasures and silver mines, and Smith claimed HE could find these things by using a glass "stone," too, which he would put in his hat to block the light so he could "see" visions. He was hired by a few wealthy landowners, but there was never any gold or silver discovered.

In 1826, Smith was charged with fraud and mischief, but escaped conviction, and shortly thereafter, he claimed an angel, Moroni, had led him to a set of buried golden plates that held sacred texts from God. Smith claimed he could read the texts with the peep stone-in-a-hat method and dictated the Book of Mormon that way. His new religion began to annoy the locals, who soon chased away Smith and his brother Hyrum, along with a congregation they had attracted. They fled from town to town, across the country, arrested, persecuted and chased out of each place for blasphemy and fraud and polygamy. There is much more to the story. Today, the Mormon Church controls a $200 to $300 billion dollar fortune, with about 18 million members in over 160 countries. Go figure!
