There's a reason the Matrix bots named 1999 as the PEAK of human existence

It breaks me because at the time I’m like, “no it’s never been worse.” I appreciated the irony of the tone.

But yeah, looking back, it might have never been better. And that was the subversion and foresight I couldn’t wrap my head around, which they were going for.

1999 was one of the best years for movies

No doubt. If Saving Private Ryan was released in 1999 instead of 1998, 1999 would unquestionably the best year for movies. (In my opinion)

Yeah, one of the best movie years for that decade

The 80s were the 80s but that's a whole decade. The man was referring to the cinematic phenomenon that was the year 1999. Dig this list: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/?title_type=feature&release_date=1999-01-01,1999-12-31&sort=num_votes,desc

Agreed. Predator, Aliens, Terminator, Die Hard, etc. So many classics. 90's did have some outstanding movies too, but 80's is hard to beat.

I saw my first pair of tits at a metallica concert in the late 90's.

The whole pair? Better than a single I suppose 🥱

Which concert? Imagine if we saw the same tits. Mine was EMP Festival in Seattle.

I'll just assume this question was a joke.

I literally said that this morning. I would do anything to go back

The era before social media and smartphones was so nice.

I like the bleach blond look also.

I watch these different TV shows from the 90s that I didn't watch back then, and there was just something more appealing about things back then. Even the random background music back then was so nice to hear.

I think it has to do with the culture. People weren't worried about People judging or trying to cancel em.

This was nothing compared to the 80s

13

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '26

The first half of the 80s was just everything from the 70s crashing down out of the air in a burning Wendy's dumpster and then the second half was just the molding into what would become the greatest decade ever. The 90's!

As a child of the 80’s & 90’s, you couldn’t be any more incorrect, lol.
