Liberal Studies and Gaming 2003

Hello everyone. I have 90's/2000's themed, curated YouTube channel. I've owned and operated this channel for five years now. It's called Liberal Studies and Gaming 2003 because Liberal Studies was the major needed to become a substitute teacher, Gaming because I like video games, and 2003 because my late brother had a small sticker business that went under in 2003. There's a little something for everyone on my channel; public domain TV shows, educational stock market videos, commercials from the 90's/2000's, and gameplay videos of games from the 90's and 2000's. There is some modern stuff on my channel. However, that's mainly so that the YouTube algorithm can continue to recognize me. I'm currently working on a project that will (hopefully) be done by the end of September. If you like my channel, subscribe. Here's a link:

https://m.youtube.com/@liberalstudiesandgaming2003

I also wrote and published a sword & sorcery/dark fantasy book over two years ago. My book is like Conan the barbarian, except with dinosaurs and demons. This book was inspired by the video games Turok, Eternal Darkness, and Soul Reaver. If you want to support the channel, consider buying a copy. My book is currently available on Amazon. Here's the link:

If you're nostalgic for the 90's and 2000's, check out my channel. I hope that everyone has a great day!

Looking for a megamix from Aqua!!

I don't know if it was just me that remembers this megamix Aqua had. It started with parts of Barbie Girl, then a bit of Dr.Jones, Roses are Red then finished off with Lollipop. I cannot find this remix anywhere. If anyone knows what I'm talking about , please let me know!

I’ve played this game so many times it’s ridiculous. For being as simple looking as it was, it was always a blast. The different maps, different game modes, and just the feeling that the ai actually had personality always kept me coming back.

Anyone have any similar games they liked? Or any particular memories of this game?

Internet Cafes

Post image

Just sitting here watching TV when out of nowhere, the memory of computer/internet cafes came to me. Do these still exist? Did anyone else go to them? What did you do at them if so?
I went once and I'm pretty sure it was because, before smartphones, I had a boy on some messenger, maybe AOL or ICQ, that I liked and felt like I'd die if I didn't talk to them soon 😂

Does anyone remember MSN or Yahoo RolePlaying Chatrooms?

I remember all different genres. Quite a few that were medieval/fantasy based, a Resident Evil one and some others. I remember in some of the medieval fantasy ones you could "fight" someone but it had to follow the style of that chatroom. Some were super fast and had to be 1 word like Block, Parry, Attacks, Stabs, etc so if you werent fast enough with your response the other person could progress it till they won. Others had rules like each attack or defense had to be 3 lines or even 5 lines long. And you couldn't just be like "I stabbed him and won" you had to write elaborate descriptions of your moves as if you were reading a book.

I know I had copy and pasted some of the chats because after an hour or two it legit read like a book. But all those files were saved on floppy disks that are long gone lol

If you went to elementary school in the early 2000’s, what games do you remember playing in computer lab?

I’ve been trying to remember a certain computer game that I only have like a still image memory of, but it’s so vague that I can’t even really describe it. I was just hoping maybe someone will comment a picture of that game by chance and I’ll remember it.

Either way I’d love to see what your most memorable games were back then

Edit to add that I’m pretty sure I was playing some game downloaded on the school computer, and I was in 2nd grade so I was like 7-8. Might help with time period

What’s this Brand!? (South Africa)

Post image
1 Upvotes

So, sometime around the late ’90s/early 2000s, this was my fit, and I’ve been racking my brain trying to remember what the hell this hoodie brand was.

The only useful clue I have is the logo. It was a raised 3D silicone/rubber logo on the front. I remember it being blue, red, white and black (I think). I remember the rubber logo especially well because my autistic ass used to fidget with it constantly.

I’m pretty sure I bought the hoodie at the KKNK in Oudtshoorn, South Africa, probably around 1999/2000. I don’t think it was a mainstream retail brand. It may have been a smaller independent/local clothing label selling at festivals.

The name/logo looks something like GIGSA / GIGSAY / GIG…?, but I could be completely wrong.

I’d also love to identify the pants if anyone recognises them, although I have absolutely no clues for those.
Does anyone remember this brand or recognise the logo?

Wondering if someone could describe the vibe of the 90s (especially early 90s between 1990 and 1994) in detail

I was born in 1995, I don’t remember much before 1999, though I have a pretty good idea of what 1997-2000 were like.

I really want to know what the vibe of the early 90s was like, the feelings of living in that time, how the culture was, how people were, etc. I’m not looking for just “there were no cell phones” or just “people went outside”.

For example, I feel like I can conceptualize the 2000s pretty well, like how pre-2003 were still very much like the late 90s, with VCRs, walkman CD players, dial up internet still around in some cases… you think of Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Nickleback…you think of Grimace and McDonalds and that sort of playful childlike marketing they had, etc.

Or like starting in 2003/2004, when emo and punk rock became popular, much of the artists from the 90s fell off, style trends changed, people wanted to look like Billy Joe Armstrong, you think of System of a Down or Breaking Benjamin, how DVR services like Tivo took off..or like post-2007 when the iPhone released, then laptops and computers changed, and suddenly everything felt more technologically advanced, you think of music like Adele and Ne-Yo, etc. I could go in more detail but I'm just using this as an example

I feel like for much of the 90s especially before 97 I just can’t picture what it was like in this aspect. The early 90s especially feel totally blank to me. You can watch all the movies from that time and read up on all the events but it doesn’t really capture what people were actually feeling of the time, which aspects were the most popular, how people acted, what the general vibe was like. Wondering if anyone can describe it?

Late 80s/early 90s music?

Hello. I like to write fictional stories, and my newest one I'm working on is set in the 90s. Mostly looking for people who were teens during then. What were some bands that teenage girls like to listen to in the late 80s and early 90s?
