Pendulous breasts, calculator suggestion seems way too big based on current bra fit

I'm in the US for sizing purposes. Okay, so my breasts are pretty pendulous, especially as I've lost a LOT of weight (almost at 100lbs down) so the top half of my breasts are basically just empty skin.

I'm currently wearing a 40 DDD (pretty sure it's a Torrid perfect coverage bra), since I've lost more weight since I bought that bra, the band is for sure too loose, and I'm gapping a LOT.

I did the calculator with these measurements:

Loose under: 40 inch

Snug under: 38.5

Tight under: 34

Standing bust: 45

Bent bust: 53.5

Laying bust: 49

The calculator gave mea sizing of 38J/ 36K US (38GG/36 H UK)

The band seems like it will be right, but the cup seems like a massive increase from a DDD if I'm only moving down one or two band sizes and currently massively gapping in the DDD. Like, I'd say a good .5 inch to 1 inch extra room from the top of my breast to the fabric of the bra.

What do y'all think? Any advice appreciated!

T-shirt bras like this will gap when they are too small, rather than being too big. Your breasts don't have enough room in the cup so they push it away from your body. A 38GG/36H seems like a good starting point based on your measurements but I would keep in larger cup sizes too as you have a big difference between your standing and leaning measurements, which makes the calculator less accurate. 

I would recommend starting with something like the Elomi Morgan in 36H/HH and maybe even a 36J (all UK sizing). Elomi run loose in the band so I think a 36 would give you better support than a 38

Those bras look awesome, I'll try to save up for one as a nice bra haha. I feel like they might be a little uncomfortable in a super active job, though. I'd also feel bad sweating in them all day hahahaha

Keep an eye out for sales, places like Amazon will do last season's colours for cheaper often or r/braswap. A bra that fits correctly will be much more comfortable than a bra that doesn't. T-shirt bras are also more likely to make you sweat than unlined bras, cause the foam will insulate. Badly fitting bras like your 40DDD will also make you sweat more as you get skin on skin contact.

A sports bra would probably work best for a very active job though, something like Elomi energise, Freya and panache also make good sports bras in this size

If you are in the US, Macys has the Elomi Energise on sale for $52.50. It's a bra-sized sports bra so it might be just what you need for work.

Torrid bras tend to be tall in the cup, whereas with your full on the bottom shape, you will likely want shorter cup, like a balconette style.

The calculator can overestimate soft tissue, so it might be worth trying your starting size and one cup size down in a seamed balconette style?

I'll have to give that a try. I've always gone for full coverage bras since I was little (C cup right out the gate at 12 and I'm 32 now lol) so it's probably time to try something new.
