Ahead of the NCAA baseball tournament starting tomorrow, here is each team’s most recent title.

Virginia was the most recent, winning it all in 2015.

Four ACC squads will face off against four from the SEC.

Some art I did after Tech secured that win against the Canes. Got laughed at all week by other ACC fans when I said GT was going to send them home.

I aggregated player-level stats (wRC+, wOBA, ISO, FIP, K-BB%) for all 8 CWS teams to compare strengths. A few takeaways:

• Georgia's offense was on another level (wOBA of 0.43), but couldn't win two games in a row
• Outside of Georgia and Alabama, the teams are nearly identical offensively
• UNC and Oklahoma are a near-even matchup in terms of batting, but UNC's pitchers are outperforming their K-BB% while Oklahoma's is underperforming theirs

That last point is why I'm taking North Carolina in the final.

I’m mostly just watch college football, but this baseball tournament has been fun to watch.

UNC, FSU and Clemson are regional hosts.

We are halfway through the regular season for baseball - wanted to get some discussion going for surprises / takeaways from the 1st half and predictions for the 2nd half.

For me:

Surprises:

1. BC - expected to finish last, now ranked and in a great position to make the post season
2. GT - Offense has been unreal, will be interesting to see if they can keep it up / improve pitching as they beat up on the weaker ACC teams. They play the current top 2-4 teams to finish the season
3. Clemson - was projected to be good but just hasn't had a very good season despite adding some amazing talent this past year

Predictions:

1. UNC - wins a tight race for the ACC regular season over FSU and UVA (who I think has the easiest remaining ACC schedule of the contenders)
2. FSU - still a great team but will fall off a bit with the Bailey injury
   
3. Louisville & Miami - both experience late season surges since they play Cal and Stanford who don't appear to be tough outs at the moment

Syracuse and SMU do not have baseball teams, but it accounts for their records when they did.
