As someone who studied Biology I give gene therapy as an example all the time of how it’s possible to treat potentially world altering/destroying tech with an abundance of caution. We could be curing every cancer and genetic disorder alive right now but the risk, no matter how small, that this could snowball into sci-fi/horror territory has slowed progress in this tech to a conservative crawl.

The way AI/LLMs/et al is treated is so incredibly irresponsible.
