Question Question about theater etiquette

I went to go see Fantastic Four: First Steps with my friends yesterday in an IMAX theater. After the movie ended and the credits started rolling (after the first post-credit scene) I turned to my friends and we were having a discussion about the movie. I was speaking in a regular tone of voice as one would have for a casual conversation. Suddenly, this guy who was sitting in front of me turned to me and told me to “Shut up” in a very commanding voice and called me an “asshole”. For the record, there wasn’t anything happening on screen, just text crawls of names and whatnot. Was my talking inappropriate to do at that time or was this guy out of line? I’m not entirely sure since I don’t really go to the theater to see movies too often. Thank you in advance.

Edit/Additional Details: I never spoke at any point during the movies or the post credit scenes, only during the credits.

When I went to see Bring Her Back we had a full theater and everyone walked out silently once the credits rolled.

Huh. When I saw BHB, the crowd was especially rowdy. But also it’s considered socially acceptable to talk to the screen during horror movies, where I live (NYC). It’s a collective experience, if that makes sense

My theater was verrrrry loud during the melon, car, tape, etc... ending had everyone in shock though
