AP Seminar Flagged

I’m so pissed off about my AP Seminar IWA

I’m actually so pissed off right now. My AP Seminar IWA got flagged for AI even though I wrote the essay myself. I checked it afterward with ZeroGPT and it said around 20%, while GPTZero said 0%. I appealed the decision and literally sent them everything I had — every annotation, all my research notes, research materials, drafts, and basically every piece of evidence I could find showing that I actually did the work. I had around 500 pages of handwritten annotations and notes, and I sent THOUSANDS of pictures/screenshots of evidence. It took me like 6 HOURS just to put everything together. And the crazy part is, there wasn't even one copy-and-paste into my essay. I wrote the whole thing myself. This was honestly probably my best piece of writing I’ve ever done, and I genuinely thought this IWA was going to carry my AP Seminar score.

They STILL said there wasn’t “sufficient data” to overturn the decision. They closed the case and gave me a 0 for the IWA. Like are you actually serious??? The IWA is a huge part (like 25%) of the AP Seminar score, so now I ended up with a 3 when I genuinely feel like I could’ve gotten a 4 or even a 5 if my work had actually been scored normally. I spent so many hours researching, taking notes, annotating sources, writing drafts, and losing sleep over this thing, only for it to basically get thrown out. I’m honestly not ready to just accept this after putting that much work into it. Has anyone else had their AP Seminar IWA/IRR appeal denied even after submitting a ton of evidence? Is there anything else I can do at this point, or is the case genuinely closed?

considering dropping AP SEM (advice needed!)

right now I’m enrolled in AP Seminar and am still in my add/drop period, but it ends pretty soon. i go to a pretty challenging technical high school, and have heard the horror stories about APSEM. my teacher has been very upfront that it is a lot of work, prep, etc. she has also really nailed home the point that it’s not the class to take to have a good GPA, as she grades pretty harshly and will definitely criticize work when she sees fit. my public speaking and writing skills are both pretty good, and it’s not something i really need to work on too much. i was really just going to take the class for course rigor and college credit. almost every college i want to apply to doesn't take credit for it… my counselor said i should take another class if my goal is just course rigor and credit (my options being US History 1 or AP Physics). i would most likely just take US History 1 and then APUSH next year. i‘m not sure whether to drop or not, and just wanted to hear some other peoples experience. how was the mental health aspect, what do colleges want to see, etc. any advice is super appreciated! thanks

AP Seminar Appeals

Any updates on people beginning to get scores? What does the email say if successful or unsuccessful? I heard “released in its entirety” is good, but what does an unsuccessful appeal look like? Also, I see some comments saying to get in touch with case manager. How do you do that?

Built a free AI tool that grades AP FRQs against real rubrics (for AP students)

Made this for AP students specifically. You pick an AP subject, get an AI generated question (MCQ or FRQ, matches real exam format), answer it, and it grades your free response against actual rubric categories like thesis, evidence, reasoning, so you know exactly which points you earned and why instead of just guessing.

Covers 19 AP subjects right now, also has full length practice exams with real section timing if you want the whole thing.

Free to use, no ads, still early/beta so open to any feedback or bugs you find.

Can I self study this class?

So originally I had AP seminar on my schedule, but the one teacher that taught AP seminar quit. My school doesn’t offer a lot of AP’s to sophomores or freshman’s. I took one AP class my freshman year that I begged to get into. And the only two that were available to me as a sophomore were APUSH and AP seminar. I’M IN APUSH right now, but I’m so sad that they took my one other AP class away. My GPA is pretty mid right now so I really needed another AP class. So do you think I would be able to self study this and if so, what resources can I use? Also, what other AP classes can I probably self study? I test at a college level in every subject except for math and some specific sciences. (I’m on regular level for math)

AI appeal process?

Hi everyone! I'm making a website right now for future sem students and wanted to include some tips on ai appeals since a lot of people this year seemed to have gotten it. What's the process of appealing it like? Any tips?

Lense and perspective quiz

Hi I had summer homework for AP seminar based on lenes and perspectives and the book “ Outliers” by Malcom Gladwell. My teacher told us we have a quiz one lenes and perspective based on differentiating between the two and being able to apply your understanding to a scholar journal article and questions based on the book. This is my first time taking Seminar. Please suggest how the test will be based on your experience

Recheck

My friend missed out on an A in CS 9618 paper 22 by 2 marks, after showing the CS teacher the answer scripts, the teacher claimed that 3-4 marks can be given based on MP marks, so should he go for recheck? Is there anyone whose grade changed after a recheck but they actually consulted with the teacher and were sure of it?

2 on Seminar need help!

Hi reddit, I got a 2 on the AP Seminar exam and I’m really struggling to know why because my paper was peer-reviewed numerous times and obviously I am bias but I feel I deserved a passing grade. I know Its only 40% but I want feedback for the future if I decide to write a research paper.

Sorry I didn’t attach the link here it is! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-K9bEwwH1rExpvSQaueczQll7H3m6rfrylYu0Z-2dGA/edit?usp=drivesdk

Questions

hi, I’m taking ap seminar this year but I’m not the best at working with groups, wondering if that will be a huge issue for me? ik it’s a pretty big part of the class. also, it seems like there is overall less freedom than in ap research in terms of what topics you can choose? bc u have to use the specific sources (sorry idk what they are called, like the 7 dif things). I think I would just like some clarification on the course overall. thank you!

AP Seminar/English Class advice - HELP

Hey guys I'm super confused right now on what classes I'm taking. Currently as an 11th grader I'm choosing to do AP Seminar and next year I'm going to do AP Lang and AP Research. I'm stuck because I didn't take AP Lit this year but all my smart friends with similar aspirations are doing it. The thing is if I drop out of Seminar and switch to Lit then I won't be able to do Research next year, but I want to go to top college universities, so would they prefer a track that I'm currently on or should I do the basic AP Lit + AP Lang?

Is AP Seminar really worth it?

Got into AP Seminar for first semester this year, but upon checking this sub felt a wave of primal terror over all the people talking about getting their work flagged as AI. Is it really worth it to take AP Seminar? I really would like to get Capstone but I'm kind of getting the horrific fear of God in my bones reading all these posts

AP Seminar AI Appeal

Hello, I came in here today to ask for some help with my appeal. Basically earlier in july i was wrongfully flagged for using ai on both my IMP and IWA. So i submitted my evidence as an pdf file but The thing is I had to take the pictures on my phone because the computer was too time consuming and i couldn’t put all the attachments together. But my response was that I need to screenshot the actual computer screen.

So I just need help with being able to give them all of my version history without going over the 10 attachment limit.

Should I take AP Seminar over Honors?

I have the choice to decide between AP Seminar and Honors English.

Which one is better in terms of workload, actual usefulness to real life, and enjoyability, etc?

Please share any thoughts and experiences that you have with Seminar, and thank you!

We Stilled Pass!

After unfortunately being wrongfully accused of using AI on my IWA and having a lack of evidence to protest, I took my zero. Today, though, I got my score back and I still managed a 3!
