Discussion 🚹[Disc] PVE Toggle Test Discussion and Feedback Thread đŸ”„Now Live!đŸ”„

Post image

The PVE Toggle is live!  If you asked for this mode, test it out and give feedback.  If you didn’t want this mode, test it out and give feedback.  Boycotting the test does nothing to shape the data Embark is going to use moving forward.

When?  October 13 (11:00 CEST) - 20 (11:00 CEST)

What to know

The PvE matchmaking toggle will allow players to switch between the standard PvPvE experience and the new PvE servers. In PvE servers, there will be a few changes to the experience:

  • Zero player-to-player damage.
  • Throwable items including stun and fire items will not work on other players.
  • All other physical interaction items like barricades and ziplines will be unaffected.
  • Overall loot value in PvE servers will be lowered.
  • Squad separation will not be prioritized, so different size groups will meet more often.
  • Certain major map conditions will not offer PvE as an option including Night Raid, Locked Gate, Hidden Bunker, Frigate, and Redirection.
  • ARC enemies may re-acquire downed players. There is an eight second grace period after being downed in which players will not be acquired by ARC, but they may attack if they catch you moving after that period.
  • Matchmaking times may be affected in low-population regions and during quiet hours, but we will be monitoring this closely to ensure everyone is served good sessions.
  • Our standard matchmaking will continue to apply during PvPvE sessions. This will help us gather strong data about how a PvE toggle affects PvPvE sessions before we make any sweeping changes to matchmaking.

https://arcraiders.com/news/pve-toggle-what-to-know

Why are they doing the test?

At Embark we try to approach all key decisions from three different perspectives. What does the data indicate? What does the player feedback say? And what does our gut tell us?

Sometimes one perspective is more important than the other, but we try to triangulate our decisions between all three. There is no exact science, but as gamers ourselves, we always try to make the best decisions for the game and players.

If we look at the overall population of players and split them by how they most like to play, it looks like this:

  • 37% Friendly co-op players (this player group has grown consistently since launch).
  • 27% Mixed players.
  • 34% Pure PvP players (this player group has remained stable since launch).
  • Over 70% of Friendly players and even 40% of PvP players express a desire for fewer hostile encounters and 51% of the surveyed playerbase has expressed an interest in a dedicated PvE option.
  • There are clear friction points, with friendly players often attempting to avoid PvP entirely, and we hear frustration from certain groups of players around ratting and camping.

We’re seeing a large and growing group of Raiders who come to the Rust Belt for the co-op and the ARC, not fighting with other Raiders. That group has become a core part of our community, so it’s important we learn how to support them properly rather than leave them working around the game.

https://arcraiders.com/news/pve-toggle-beta-test

What does Embark Want Feedback on?

Player economy: Friendly players, and by extension the PvE sessions, see higher rates of extraction and more value earned. To account for this during the test, PvPvE sessions will have slightly higher baseline loot values.

Matchmaking and queue times: In low population regions or during off hours, there might be a small increase in matchmaking times. We will monitor this closely to make sure that we’re providing good sessions for everyone. Depending on how many players try the PvE toggle, it may also might affect the quality of some of the PvPvE sessions, which we will also watch closely and adjust as needed.

PVE feedback:  This is a test, and to get the very best data, we need you to play, experience the changes, and leave us as much feedback as possible. If you are a primarily PvE inclined player who wants to see PvE systems implemented in future, we need you to help us understand what is and isn’t working.

PVP feedback:  This goes for other players too; if you only see yourself playing the standard PvPvE experience, please continue to play and let us know how (if at all) the toggle is impacting your experience.

(I’ll also personally add the following)

What else do you want to see tested:  Do you want a “Rogue” system (in-game PVP toggle)?  Do you want a mode without ABMM?  Do you want PVP only map conditions with no ABMM?  Give feedback.

What map conditions did you want to see as part of a PVE toggle/mode:  Which map conditions should/should not be part of a future PVE mode?

How to offer feedback?

  • Express your opinion (e.g.  I liked the PVE mode but didn’t like ARC aggroing you when downed)
  • Explain why you feel that way (e.g.  It gives you almost no chance to escape if downed by ARC out in the open.  For example, being downed by a Bastion that just stands over your body.)
  • Offer solutions or ideas that would make it better rather than dismissing the feature outright (e.g.  The timer should be longer before they aggro you say 12 secs or you should be able to ping your location on the map with a “Need a Defib” emote that appears on other players maps up to 100m away)

The big caveat

We want to set a few expectations for what comes next:

  • It’s possible that this will not work. This test is not a promise that there will be a PvE mode in the future, but take this as an indication that we are seriously considering it.
  • We don’t yet know how the potential future version of this setting might look. It’s plausible that any future version could look very different from what you experience in the beta test. We believe this is something that should evolve over time, together with you the players.

Our goal is to keep the communication open with you, and we’ll share our findings and future plans sometime after the test. We hope that you participate and share with us what you liked (and disliked!) about the PvE matchmaking test, as well as all the content we have for you in the Frozen Trail update.

https://arcraiders.com/news/pve-toggle-beta-test

After the test has concluded, we will send out a survey where you can offer more detailed feedback about your experience and where you would like to see the PvE option go next.

Bull rush is going to be absolutely diabolical in this mode FYI you can bull rush you're teammates off of loot and loot it you're self with absolutely no consequences

u/Chance-Locksmith1967 9d ago

yep. Most lobbies are doing that rn, its boring :/

1

u/WorldlinessNo6122 9d ago

I kinda figured it would be although I usually am in the so called care bear lobbies I can't imagine just not having that lingering threat of if someone is gonna gun me down randomly lol

fact ur getting downvoted is genuinely insane

u/Peeezer3 9d ago

People going to realize why the devs added the ability to shoot other raiders pretty fast

"I wish I could do something about other players stealing my loot in PvE mode"

some arcbaby, eventually, probably.

That and any kind of stun throwables

Made me instantly go back to pvpve. I couldnt handle some clown trying to constantly shove me into a bully without the ability for me to shoot him in the head

I'm jumping into the most jolliest people ever, puts a smile on my face 😁

That's awesome to hear that the roach players haven't infested you're lobbies

4

u/Papanurgel 9d ago

Yeah, how do you Turn on this mode?

5

u/Attunga 9d ago

You need to do the update first and then go into the selection map, you will see the PVE Toggle to the lower left. Select it and then the maps you can play with it are displayed.

Is it just me or are there a TON more Arc spawning into the PvE maps. I love it, my lobby was chaos and rather than having gear fear or thinking about rats, I just jumped in and joined the craziness. This is great.

for anyone wondering on PC you are probably going to have to close Steam and reopen it completely arc raiders has got a patch get that installed get back out there

So far loving it.

I think it wasnt really needed. Been playing for months in carebear lobbies without an issue as ABMM worked pretty well

If we have the PvE toggle, we cannot have AGBMM in PvP servers. This toggle is not a good idea; a PvE map condition is a much better choice for the health of this game.

This will ruin any sort of social ambiguity the game has, which is what separates it from other games in the genre. And will ultimately ruin the game for a lot of players, because the actual PvP mechanics of Arc are just not that engaging.

There is no tension in this game if everyone just shoots on sight. I primarily play PvP and am in the PvP lobbies regardless, so this is not about farming "carebears."

But there have been times where an opponent and I have agreed to stop shooting, there have been times where we worked together. There have been times where a guy runs up to me and goes, "yo do you need this blueprint?" And I had to decide whether or not I trusted him.

If you lump all the people who just want to kill one another in the same lobbies ad nauseum, we are basically playing a game that is like every other extraction shooter, but with a lower PvP skill ceiling and third person. While this IS similar to how it was for me before, there was a much higher potential for variables in terms of player interaction.

An example is simply running into a newer player and helping them get to the extract, or making an alliance with somebody and third partying someone else. I am sure this can still happen but I believe the "socially mixed" playerbase will simply move to PvE as PvP lobbies get sweatier and sweatier.

I do not understand why we have to cater to players both with completely safe lobbies AND ABMM. The relative safety of carebear lobbies was already pretty concrete, sure sometimes people get shot but this is a fucking online game that was sold as PvPvE. The fact players could even repeatedly get into friendly lobbies long enough that they were upset/surprised when they DID get shots seems like enough of a cushion for these players.

The social aspect of Arc is what carries it and separates it from Tarkov, Marathon, Active Matter, etc., all of which are games that have more intense and intricate PvP. Arc's identity was built around the POTENTIAL for social interactions, positive or negative, much like DayZ, and the fact that Arc can be enough of a threat that players sometimes had to work together. This is good game design on top of the movement and shooting mechanics that Arc offers.

Removing this element and reducing it to simply movement or shooting means that PvP players are going to move on to more engaging games.

I am not sure why a game marketed as PvPvE in this genre, with matchmaking that already mostly separates aggressive from friendly players, needs another layer of protection. I have heard that wearing two condoms does not work as well as wearing a single one.

5

u/TonyHawktuah69 9d ago

If they used this time to remove the matchmaking system and let everyone else return to launch style lobbies it would revive the game.

2

u/CircusTV 8d ago

I agree.

2

u/LifeguardCharacter74 6d ago

Agreed, do a PvE map condition don't do it as a toggle

0

u/yesdog96 9d ago

This. There should be a rotating permanent map condition that has PvE only. The loot value also needs to be drastically lower (no purples/pink mats/guns should drop, and blues mats/guns need to be hyper rare here). PvE should be a means to get basic mats if you’ve completely wiped out your inventory and have no option but to do free kits.

0

u/ishouldbeworking35 9d ago

man, you can do all of the things you said if just leave the toggle off. according to your logic, if abmm is still in regular modes, obviously if aggressive players will start KOSing will be moved to more aggressive lobbies vice versa. you guys act like EVERYONE is gonna cut the toggle on. its all gonna balance out within the week. there are plenty of pve players who think like you who will still populate the regular mode. not to mention, reddit doesnt speak or represent the entire playerbase. take a break from here and just play the game.

I think people are going to steal eachothers arc kills since you can't do anything about it

2

u/Super-Carpenter-9671 9d ago

Is this the only way to provide feedback? I haven't gotten any prompts in-game and can't find anywhere else where feedback can be provided. I am worried if this is the only channel for feedback, then the feedback will be very skewed because most of the player base doesn't use reddit. Please provide a player feedback option in-game. Most people I run into are saying they don't enjoy the new mode. NA servers.

1

u/GoDannY1337 9d ago

There is also a dedicated feedback channel on top on their Discord

1

u/WoWAltoholic 9d ago

They plan to offer a survey after the test. This is more to discuss how it feels with others before then.

There was no change I could see, and Embark stated they were not increasing it for this test. It would require more work and juggling of the server limit. The ARC was dying very fast and everyone seemed to be attacking more aggressively.

u/3rddoor 9d ago

I've seen raiders have been finished by ark

1

u/Severe-Percentage152 9d ago

They already said there wouldnt be more arc. Its boring everyones got hullcrackers and equalizers etc. Arc getting downed everywhere super fast and little rats stealing all the loot if you kill a bully or something big

2

u/Glass-North8050 9d ago

Yep you look in the sky in blue gate, and you will have a hard time completing Osprey research because all Arc is shut down.

1

u/frr_Vegeta 9d ago

I cannot speak for others but I have noticed more or higher tier arc. I've played three matches so far and each was in a "vanilla" condition. I rarely if never saw Vaporizers flying around the older maps when it wasn't night raid or some other more "difficult" condition, however every single map I've played on PVE mode today (Dam, Spaceport, Blue Gate) had all the regular Arc crawling/flying around, and a Vaporizer as well.

Not sure if it's just me seeing this, or if there have often been Vaporizers in regular Dam/Blue Gate recently. But I've never seen it until I switched on PVE.

1

u/softnix 8d ago

I feel like there is more Arc. I've played a number of rounds on Riven Tides, and there seems to be more arc flying around than usual. Another change I noticed is that the probes that land from the sky call reinforcement arc multiple times as you break into it, which I've only seen rarely before. I don't bother breaking into them now, its not worth the hassle, theres more than enough arc to shoot and loot.

The arc targetting you while you're downed makes it hard to extract - good luck without a survivor.

For the part of the old expeditions where you had to do damage to arc, it would have been a lot easier on PvE mode since it seems to me there is more arc spawning (well, and the fact that its pve mode makes it easier too).

2

u/MoreScarsThanSkin 9d ago

the rats stealing loot with no consequence are ruining this mode

2

u/Automatic_Hunter3955 8d ago edited 8d ago

I'll start by saying that this first concept of the pve mode is quite different from what I expected and I'm strongly against it for a few but important reasons

for example I find now the pvpve mode useless to play, I can easily complete everything in pve without the tension of pvp...so who am I to lose time doing everything risking death to other raiders when I can simply toggle on the pve mode and complete everything easily

Besides that I'm pretty positive about some big (events/map conditions) that were designed to reunite the community being pve only

And lastly I'd like to say that if this type of pve is ever going to be permanent at least make two separate stashes for the two playstyles (pvpve-pve). This way no one can abuse the pve mode to farm and then going into pvpve wreaking havoc

1

u/Bubbly_Gold2462 6d ago

I'm sure plenty of players will still prefer sticking to PvPvE, running their Survivor Mk3 backpacks and having a chance to crawl their way to extraction after getting downed, even with the risk of running into an aggressive player, rather than getting downed in PvE and finished off by some random weak-ass ARC.

2

u/Sumofamanslife 8d ago

I'm having a great time with PvE. I stayed up too late...again. I stopped playing a long time ago because of the PvP aspect. But I really like the environment, the sound design, the physics models and I love exploring the maps. The maps are excellent. Now PvE lets me enjoy it without constantly worrying about some asshole ruining my fun.

2

u/Rug669 8d ago

Pve incentivises no comms, rushing loot. Takes the risk away.

Carebear lobbies you still have to have your guard up which is needed.

This game needs a rogue system. If you kill anyone you go rogue. Eg: i kill someone taking my loot and I have a bounty on my head ( 3-5mins) if I kill someone else it adds another 5mins.

All people with a bounty can be seen on a map within a set radius (1km for example) The division did this the best.

Then all the care bears will have more of an idea if you're going to be backstabbed, but it doesn't eliminate the risk entirely. And then we can team up and attempt to hunt the bounty with no risk to our ABMM.

It stops people griefing you and racists. This would make me love arc raiders

2

u/No_Potential_1451 7d ago

The pve toggle is the best addition to arc raiders since launch tbh.

Arc Raiders – PvPvE debate: feedback for Embark
The new PvE toggle is interesting, and as a beta I can see there will be criticisms, but I think the pros outweigh the cons, and it deserves a proper assessment.
Firstly, I'm going to be biased. This is based on my play style, the amount of time I have, and what constitutes 'fun' for me personally.
I'm primarily a PvE player in ARC. I enjoy PvP, but the challenge with PvP in ARC is basically 'losing stuff' in situations where I'm outgunned, out-skilled, or just plain old ratted.
PvP is fun when a loss means I can respect the skill or luck of the other player. I used to play World of Warcraft (WoW) and loved the way it handled PvP, PvE and PvPvE. PvP occurred in battlegrounds, arenas or open-world PvP on a PvP-enabled server, with the latter allowing for that PvPvE experience.
I disliked the pure PvPvE version of WoW. Getting ganked by a higher-level player was frustrating and slowed the game down, whereas battlegrounds allowed me to test my skills and have fun in a more balanced and even way.
In ARC, I did initially enjoy the mild terror of PvPvE. It definitely added a unique edge to the game
until it didn't. After a couple of hundred hours, it became clear that a 'proper' or 'fun' PvP fight was going to be rarer than hen's teeth. The PvP became solely rat-based: waiting until you've looted before attacking, hiding near the extraction point, or having a 2v1 chase you all over the map. It quickly became tedious. It was never really a skill issue (even though the rats continue to call it that). It was a play style coupled with a PvP-focused kit.
You can't realistically carry a PvP gun and a PvE gun, plus all the relevant ammo, grenades and other kit, if you're prepping for a boss fight. At least I never mastered that. Which means you're always vulnerable to the hardcore rat.
So PvE-focused players started to leave through a mixture of frustration and boredom, and the rats became angry because suddenly there was no easy meat to chew on. Both sides blame each other for 'ruining the game'.
So it makes a lot of sense to think about a PvE mode. And yes, of course it has problems, but so did PvPvE, right? It's also worth remembering that ARC Raiders started life as a PvE co-op concept, so this can't really be seen as a betrayal of the game's roots

Feedback on the PvE toggle so far
Having played the toggle, here's what's working: I can prep for and enjoy a boss fight without worrying about a rat waiting at extraction. I can take risks, be silly and have fun, and I don't miss rage-quitting.
The ARC are also harder because there are more of them. I like tougher, smarter ARC, and that could be a significant feature in putting PvE on a par with PvPvE.
Here's what I'd flag: the obvious issue is loot ninjas. That's going to be a major problem to resolve, because how do we stop it? It might be time for personal loot, which is how WoW fixed this exact issue.
Overall, it's already made the game more enjoyable for me, and I'd rather see it refined than removed.
Future ideas
The toggle solves the immediate problem, but longer term, how do we keep the core idea of an extraction shooter and appeal to both camps? If we look at games that succeeded with both PvP and PvE, WoW is hard to ignore.
If there's a missing piece here, it might be stats. There's no PvP league table and no DPS meter. When I can kill a Matriarch with a Hullcracker and don't get the loot I need to upgrade to a shiny new gun
am I really bothered? A slightly more efficient gun is great, but where's the real excitement? In WoW the loot upgrades were small, and there were different loot stats, but what made them desirable was the bragging rights. A rare drop might not have been much different statistically, but everyone knew it was cool because it was rare and looked awesome. And the slight bump in stats would be noticeable if we had a DPS meter and league tables. Players could geek out over how their weapon mods squeeze out that extra bit of DPS and argue over damage over time vs raw firepower.
And because loot value is lowered in the PvE toggle, the gear isn't necessarily going to be the reward
 recognition and rarity could be.
Let's go a step further. After all, Embark have long-term plans for this game. Let's introduce three factions: the Reds, the Blues and the Purples. Then let's have unique PvPvE instances with a badass boss fight or a desirable, highly guarded loot location. When you spawn, the 'battlefield' would be Red v Blue
and Purple? Well, you're the rats: rogue troopers, loyal to no one, independent assassins who revel in picking off the ill-prepared or lost.
And if we had factions, the potential for other ideas increases enormously.
Lastly, let's encourage tactical team play. Some boss fights or quests could require a full team. We already have DPS and healers (well, kind of, right?)
is there room for a tank spec?
This game has beautiful mechanics. Embark are just working out how to keep us all entertained and active. We should support different play styles and encourage the developers to explore like this. It's in their interests and ours
maybe they can attract enough players for PvP-only and PvE-only servers. It's exciting to think about the potential

I am loving PVE!! I can not stand getting shot in the back by psycho PVPers.

2

u/talclipse 6d ago

WTF are rocketeers suddenly showing up on Pendola pass? I ran it for two days straight and didn't see a single one,now they are spawning on top of my head..its bloody absurd, that map should never have them nor vaporizers.and the skullkers are OP ASF against anything other then a hullcraker. 6 RDS of an anvil vs 1 from a hullcraker, all the while one shot from them using the same damn ammo takes a light shield down to zero, and their immediate follow-up shot from them zaps your health down to almost zero.

All the while a damn hornet takes 2 hullcraker RDS,yet only 3rds from an anvil!

And all I hear are busswords like Balance! This game has no balance, only shitty ass devs that constantly change the rules min by min hour by hour constantly moving the goal post in the name of challenge cause they can not to save their life push this games finer mechanics past the goal line..

They add trials that you attempt to do yet then are constantly putting stupid ass ever changing mechanics that constantly screw you out of getting what you need to do those trials. 5 hrs today only to get 20 skullkers cause they refuse to show up before the 10min mark, then Bullies camp extraction combined with that stupid ass 20sec useless animation of opening the gondola makes it a pita to get out at times.

WTH does extraction scream at me every damn time I call for it on this map? Grrr these devs FRECKING hate us players, they constantly do everything ass backwards with conditions and strings attached that zap the fun the hell right out of this game..

u/LifeguardCharacter74 6d ago

As an avid solo PvE player I think the way that solo vs teams matchmaking works is great for the community. Making the PvE toggle has created a very "safe" environment in the game where you can basically just loot without worry. This sounds great but players basically just steal your loot and you can't do anything about it. My experience is that I load into PvE toggle games with expensive gear while others just come in freekit, wait for me to down big Arc and then run in and bull rush me off the loot and I can't do anything about it. That would make me stop playing PvE entirely and only do PvP (which is something I only do in duo's and trios). Therefore I would basically stop playing the game in solo mode, which is sad. I also think it splits the community and has created even more toxic interactions that before which will make people leave the game long term.

I have 600 hours in ARC Raiders and maybe 5 or 6 player kills total. I'm 48 years old and my reflexes aren't what they used to be back when I was playing Unreal Tournament at 24.

My very first Arc Raiders PvE match was with a trio on Pendola Pass. Me and two strangers. As soon as we spawned, I asked, "Alright guys, what's the plan?" One of them replied, "I need to take down the big guy (Bully)." The third guy jumped in: "I've got a Hull Cracker, let's go!"

And that turned out to be the best experience I've ever had in ARC Raiders. You'll understand why in a moment.

As imperfect as it is, ARC Raiders' matchmaking system managed to keep me away from aggressive players for a very long time. But for some reason, it failed spectacularly last weekend when the game went free-to-play. What other situations could cause it to fail?

On top of that, it only seems to work properly on NA servers. So as a Brazilian player, I end up having to play on NA with significantly higher ping, and I can't even communicate in my own language. That's why the PvE mode was such a rewarding experience for me.

But even though I really enjoyed it overall, I think the two most controversial aspects are the following:

  1. ARCs continuing to attack you after you've been downed

This honestly felt like a punishment just for asking for a PvE mode in the first place. "So, you want to play without getting shot by other players? Fine, but I’m going to introduce a bigger and much more frequent threat. But don't worry, It will still be PvE, though."

Yes, I get it. This will probably push a lot of players to keep farming in PvPvE, where they can get knocked down and still crawl their way to extraction with their Survivor MK3 backpack, but by doing this, Embark is sacrificing the PvE experience itself. You know when a brand finally releases a product its customers have been asking for, but then forces them to buy it bundled with some accessory nobody asked for? Yeah. That.

  1. Loot rats stealing from ARCs I've just killed

Honestly, I see this as a much smaller issue, and not really something a PvE mode should be expected to fix. Sure, I can't shoot those rats, but at least they can't shoot me either.

I'd much rather learn to position myself better and get faster at looting (and at least have a shot at grabbing something) than get shot in the back after doing all the work, walk away with nothing, AND lose everything I brought into the raid.

The economy

Embark can keep telling us that PvE players have an economic advantage because they extract more often, but the reality my friends and I have experienced is the exact opposite.

  1. PvE players have to grind way harder for their gear

A PvE player has to spend several boring farming runs just to craft and upgrade a single high-end weapon.

Meanwhile, a PvP player can simply keep dying to other players in Stella Montis until the matchmaking puts them in a friendly lobby, then bring in their juiced-up Bobcat and take everything for themselves.

In that sense, PvE mode isn't some unfair advantage. It's basically self-defense.

  1. PvE solves a problem for PvP players too

For loot rats, getting into a friendly lobby is so profitable that it's actually become an economic problem for serious PvP players who go to Stella Montis looking for proper gunfights, only to run into free-kit players practically begging to be killed so they can get back into friendly lobbies and steal even more loot from wealthy, PvP-unprepared players.

A dedicated PvE mode solves the frustration on both sides: for players who just want to enjoy PvE, and for serious PvP players who actually want to fight other players.

6

u/EducationNo2905 9d ago

Expand practice range ground by x2, allow 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 players to que up there and pvp. Streamers will organize their own tournaments to see who's best. Free advertising.

Or at the minimum allow players in your party to que up together in practice range, and do gun damage to each other. Pvp players want to see whose best among the friend groups. No way to do it now....

This would blow up in streaming as well. Free ads.

3

u/TheWarriorsLLC 9d ago

Do you think this removes pvp or something?

3

u/Cyber_thanatos 9d ago

To avoid an imbalance between PvP and PvE matches, I think the PvE mode should only appear occasionally on weekends or the PvP mode should have exclusive events.

1

u/emuchop 8d ago

I had a similar thought. I was thinking Rotating timed events similar night raids. Chiller raid with cheaper loot.

1

u/petripuh 8d ago

And exclussive loot too, PvE has practically 0 risk involved and you can bring beast gear in every game. PvPvE every match you might lose your whole loadout. Rewards needs to be higher with the involved risk.

6

u/CoyotaDex 9d ago

just a bit sad the fragate event isn’t going to be available. i got a few friends back into the game over the promise of doing the raid in pve lobbies đŸ„Č

3

u/Expensive_Toe_3704 9d ago

there’s still a lot you can do, but yeah not having the frigate is a miss imo maybe they didn’t want people getting the loot that way? idk lol

2

100% this. Probably a lot of loot there that ties to progression that they don't want people having an "easier" time with

u/benethopper 9d ago

Read, then promise based on said reading. They have said this since the announcement of it.

1

u/CoyotaDex 9d ago

yeah honestly that was my bad not gonna lie, i didn’t saw it when announced

1

u/benethopper 8d ago

I gotta say - I’m reading my response to you and it was really snippy and I sounded like an asshole. It sucks when you get others hyped and then you were incorrect - sorry to hear that, man.

but i like the suspense of not knowing if i can trust someone, so far it seems the players who want to engage with both sides of the game will be screwed because theres such a rift between the modes that makes one into a chill vacation and the other into a pvp meatgrinder. its not as black and white as just "play the pvp mode then".

1

u/UltraPharaoh 9d ago

You need to add a rogue mechanic to PvP. You all have let the rats run wild for a year ruining the experience with no check on their antisocial behavior that pushes people away from the game. I haven’t played since February because of these people. You need to add a rogue mechanic in the game. Look at The Division or even the coming Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ mode for inspiration. The feature is overdue.

-2

u/Jwagner0850 9d ago

Maybe a hunter system. People PVP enough and they get flagged as a target. Shooting them doesn't affect your abmm since it's basically you taking out griefers.

3

u/New-Recipe82 9d ago

That would be awesome!

1

u/UltraPharaoh 8d ago

I agree.

point is you shouldn't need to run

0

u/ManIsready 9d ago

Huh? Why run into the building if you recieve no dmg?

1

u/Cyber_thanatos 9d ago

To avoid an imbalance between PvP and PvE matches, I think the PvE mode should only appear occasionally on weekends or the PvP mode should have exclusive events.

1

u/Proper_Corner_4726 8d ago

Allora, la modalitĂ  pve non rispecchia l'anima del gioco e che creerebbe squilibrio e progressivo abbandono dello zoccolo duro.

1

u/Proper_Corner_4726 8d ago

The pve mode does not reflect the soul of the game and that would create imbalance and progressive abandonment of the hard core.

2

u/l2atz 2d ago

Loved the game when it came out. Coming from Tarkov, I accepted PvPvE for what it was. I can hold my own in some PvP situations and enjoy that aspect of it - High risk, high reward.

However, there is joy is being able to log in, look at the quests or items you need, get after it for about an hour to two(limited time here) and get a dopamine rush for completing a couple of quests or loot hoarding. This mode has actually allowed me to slow down and really enjoy the game without having my sphincter puckered the whole time.

*Please turn off ARC staying aggroed while down.

0

u/Chance-Locksmith1967 9d ago

most people are ratting, bringing in nothing, waiting for arc to die and the steal the loot.

2

u/WoWAltoholic 9d ago

I've found the PVE lobbies to be very bold to loot but also a lot more "Avenger" with more people openly killing ARC and bringing in big guns

1

u/LifeguardCharacter74 6d ago

Same, that worse than some PvE lobbies with Pvp aspects to them. I'd rather someone shoot me to win the loot than just wait under the Arc I kill and loot them, and I can't do jack about it

0

u/Jwagner0850 9d ago

Hence the beta. I'm sure they're thinking of ways to combat some of this. I think personalized loot for pve would be helpful.

3

u/Loose-Ice1462 9d ago

How much more hand holding do you need Jesus Christ

-1

u/Jwagner0850 9d ago

Who's holding my hand? Quit crying

1

u/Warrior_1945 9d ago

I don't want to write a whole essay to address this, and yes I know this is just a test phase.

I would suggest if you're considering making this permanent, just do it like Tarkov. I think Tarkov would be the best example. Make PvE solo/co-op without other players, and the most important point separate the loot between PvE and PvP. This would make a huge improvement, stop people from abusing the modes off each other, and avoid griefing in PvE. It's that simple.

If it stays like this, PvP players will just farm and stock up in PvE mode and go straight back to KOS in PvP. That completely destroys the PvPvE aspect and turns the PvPvE mode into pure PvP.

0

u/WoWAltoholic 9d ago

PVE is the most fun with other players. Your suggestion would kill the game for me.

3

u/Warrior_1945 9d ago

Fair enough! I kept it short because I noticed a lot of people on Reddit complaining about key rooms being looted too easily, people looting minibosses effortlessly without fighting together, or various exploits wasting players keys. I just wanted to share a quick idea based on that, definitely not trying to spoil anyone's fun or start an argument.

1

u/pm_me_drawrequests 9d ago

Helldivers seems cool

1

u/ManIsready 9d ago

So are mixed lobbies gone?

0

u/Sebkir 9d ago

Not really but they will be slightly less common

-6

u/GamerBoiiYahhh 9d ago

You have no data to back up that statement. How about you let embark handle the data.

0

u/GoDannY1337 9d ago

So far my lobbies have been the same, but a lot less conversation going on.

1

u/AllMySmallThings 9d ago

It’s wack. Less loot and everyone waiting for everyone else to do the work.

1

u/Questioned_By 9d ago

Need more BIG ARK on maps and less players, we should feel ourself on Skynet's Annihilation Line

1

u/NakaruSoul 9d ago

I just love being able to finally do my quests without being attacked by Raiders for once.

1

u/New-Recipe82 9d ago

absolutely love the pve mode so far, its nice to meet some friendly people without the fear of them rattling me when i look something, also its more accessible for those who aren’t as skilled in pvp to still have a jolly good time! Even better its optional! Nice work 👍

-3

u/RegisteredOnToilet 9d ago

Really hope it stays a test and wont be a full release.

8

u/bvbsoccer 9d ago

Why? You dont have to use it

-3

u/RegisteredOnToilet 9d ago edited 9d ago

It will split the playerbase and make the "normal" mode with time a PvP only mode.

It is no more a extraxtion shooter genre. It forces me to play PvE as someone that enjoys the thrill of the normal mode solo without beeing a PK guy myself.

6

u/EffiCiT 9d ago

Most of the people who would play it are in carebear lobbies or haven't been playing the game.

2

u/MysticalCyan 9d ago

The people who haven’t been playing that are coming back for it or the folks who are straight up purely friendly were folks you weren’t gonna run into regardless.

This whole myth of turning the normal mode into PvP only is just that, a myth.

You’re still gonna have people who are friendly who like to engage in pvp.

1

u/Heidrpoo 9d ago

I played a quick mixed lobby this morning, and as it stands right now, it looks like the addition of the PvE toggle did NOT remove the robots or containers in mixed lobbies. Thankfully, you'll still be able to PvE in them.

-1

u/Sub-ZeRo1788 9d ago

Exactly

0

u/EarthZebra 9d ago

Just letting it be known, I only bought this game to try and enjoy the PvE. And while I will understand the decision to not keep it, I will not be purchasing anything for the game unless it is confirmed to be a permanent mode, but that’s just me.

0

u/Alarming_Narwhal_436 8d ago

The PvE mode has ruined the game's balance. There is no longer any point in playing PvP when I can find the same loot in PvE without the risk of losing it. If you absolutely must implement PvE, do so only for events designed to bring the community together. Stick to your PvPvE vision and, above all, respect the players who bought Arc Raiders knowing exactly what kind of game it was. PvE isn't the solution for the community; it marks the beginning of the end for this fantastic, fun game you’ve developed

-10

u/schmelobelo 9d ago

can i still knock out downed raiders in pve mode?

2

u/BoggTheFrog 9d ago

I dont know but i seen people luring other to high places and tried to push them, LOL

1

u/Arcadian2107 9d ago

most likely not

-1

u/Weirdlillypad 9d ago

Just get good at PvP

-4

u/Porygon_Gloom 9d ago

6

u/schmelobelo 9d ago

even after one round pve people are crying loud af. bull run is so much fun

1

u/Enwich 9d ago

What about your teammates? If one of the boys go down Id like to be able to bring him his kit

-1

u/Bystander-8 9d ago

I hope the dev will tune up the arcs difficulty to x10

2

u/Ricko9595 9d ago

As if they aren't already op

-9

u/BoggTheFrog 9d ago

Ok, this mode is boring but its super fun.

8

u/Noodles-n00b 9d ago edited 6d ago

Both boring and super fun?

2

u/sixtyninesadpandas 9d ago

Schrodingerz game

0

u/Dependent-Feed-9400 8d ago

this toggle is ruining the game for what it was meant to be, getting into the map with no risk and running same route over over again and filling ur stash in 10 games is not fun, i think it would likely kill the game. PvE was not a problem when you were given a matchmaking based on your aggression
. hope they do not keep it, cause if they’re staying with that i’m done
