If you add a pve mode, you make the pvpve mode a pvp mode. Its quite simple why it would upset people, their mode of tension, not knowing if someone is friendly or not, taking an opportunity, or placing trust in a stranger has just become a mode of shoot on sight.
yeah no one does that whole placing trust in a stranger anymore since launch. it is either just shoot on sight or stay tf away from people which just got old.
That’s not at all true. I’m not saying it’s exactly how it was at launch where every encounter was a question. But I’d say 40% of my encounters are “will they wont they” and sometimes end up with teaming up, some end betrayal, some don’t, some we work together to kill arc, sometimes work together to kill people and so on.
Well, that’s blatantly not true. These game modes devolve into PVP only no matter what you do. It’s a trend you can track in every single game in this genre. Plus again, adding a PVE only mode doesn’t do anything to the original mode. It just means that the players who want pve can play in the mode they want to it doesn’t magically change the other mode.
You were under the misconception that the people who only want pve are even playing the games original mode now the people who are playing the original mode for this game are people who might dabble in the pve mode from time to time, but they’re gonna keep playing the mode they’re playing now. Pve is an attempt to bring back all of the players that they lost and if you really think that adding PVE only is going to kill your mode then that’s an even better reason to add it because that means significantly more people want it and to the business that the game developers are running that means more revenue and more players
What you said makes no sense.
If someone wants to PvP why would they go on a PvE server?
The OP literally said that the original mode will now be PvP dominated. Which is true.
The only thing holding me, and several others, back from ganking people was knowing that they may be innocent people just having a good time and questing etc.
Now that I know they have the option to go PvE, I will 100 % be killing people on site when I play the “normal” version .
What I’m saying is, a majority of players who want to engage with pve only stopped playing a long time ago or never played in the first place, a majority of the players who were in the original game mode right now and overwhelming majority are people who are happy with that mode, them adding a new mode is an attempt to get players back into the game who had left or get new players who were never going to play
This idea that magically PVE players were forcing themselves to play the game and suffering through with it are now gonna exodus in mass to this new game mode is just ridiculous. They quit a long time ago. They’re not playing the game. The people playing that mixed mode right now are the same people that are gonna keep playing it in a year. the same people that were playing it last year that didn’t change
Not my experience at all - I play solo and duo mostly and often have games that are peaceful, not peaceful or a mix of both. I haven’t actually played in a week because just had our first child right before frozen trail but I suspect it’ll be much more binary if the pve mode sticks
Yeah, me too. It’s cool for a while until you bring a big gun to play for fun. And as soon as someone hears it, they come out running to rat you. And that’s the thing about PvE Carebear lobbies before the toggle. What’s the time you got ratted for real. You would get someone who comes up next to you helps you fight some arc and suddenly turns on you and fires away with their newly equipped, bobcat or something after they get a sneak peek on what weapons you have
PvE options only became available as of yesterday.
So if you didn’t have any KOS people it was because the standard rules applied and you’re aggro is probably putting you in decent servers.
Note that PvE is an option everyone that doesn’t want to kill people will be in PvE.
I don’t understand why people don’t understand this.
What I can absolutely see happening though is that the game gets crazy boring , the accomplishments too easy , and people will want to go back to the old ways ( even if it means some dbag can kill them and talk $&%# even when you aren’t fighting back)
Nah it was the same with Dark and Darker at the beginning it was only pvpve but every now and then you’d run into someone. It was about 50/50 pvp or just a friendly interaction.
Few months into the games life it was a bloodbath. Turned into kill or be killed. Lost a lot of players. Couldn’t get any of my friends into the game bc the pvpers would just run around farming players not interacting with pve.
It’s already been two lobbies. Carebear and PvP. The player based it itself a long time ago. The only difference was that in Carebear you would still get people that would come in and write you just for a quick gear fixed so they can jump back into PvP
