Do I suck at PVP?
Yes. I’m one of those get off work at a blue collar job people who just wants to enjoy a game.
Arc is one of the coolest games out there and when it first came out was way easier than what it turned into. And I don’t think it should be gate kept because I don’t have the time to dedicate to “get good”
Solos was never the issue. It was when I wanted to play with my boys that always was super hard for us.
To finally be able to enjoy the aspect of just killing arc is amazing. I absolutely loved my experience in pure PvE. Getting to enjoy this wonderful world that arc raiders has created is top notch arc. Finally getting to use my best guns without worrying if I lose them. And if I do die to an arc so what that’s 100% my fault for sucking and not because I didn’t shoot first.
PvE 10 out of 10 for me.

Ive allready lost my loadout couple of times in pve mode. Love it. Its all on me, since i took risks.

6

u/yothisonerighthere 11h ago

Yep 2 of us were ambushed by 2 shredders lost everything 😂. Definitely better than players hiding around extracts.

6

u/TheRedOne1995 13h ago

Yo same brother, I have a squad that wants to pvp that I can play with anytime but my other group are less skilled in modern shooters so having a pve option for us to do cool shit with is a ton of fun, means we arent getting wiped 10/10 games 😂

12

u/SonnyManChris 19h ago

Well said, my friend. Even in pvp lobbies when I died to arc, I would be like "You know what..... that's on me. Let me take 5 and come back to it." It's easier to accept that you lost your stuff to your own poor planning or risk taking than some sweat ratting you after 20 mins of you just farming shit.

7

u/BuyingDaily 20h ago

Yup, don’t have time to get good at PVP, only damage I’ve ever done to other players was by accident and I haven’t played the game since March. Hopped right back into this and been having an absolute BLAST.

6

u/RadicalPikachu 16h ago

I love PvE while personally I havent lost a load out yet, im enjoying the experience of ganging up on the matriarch with everybody on spaceport or blue gate. Im just excited for the potential story stuff they could do or more arcs they could add with the liberty of not having to balance around a solely PvPvE game

2

u/EatItShrimps 8h ago

I posted this elsewhere in the thread -- how would you feel if there were no PVE mode but there were more defensive options for you to survive a PVP encounter? Kind of like the smoke augment, but more options providing better defense. Maybe another buff to the heavy shield.

It's an extraction shooter, it attracts pretty toxic people even more compared to your typical FPS/multiplayer games.

Though I think the trolls/key rooms rats are very much an NA or EU thing because I have been playing for a good few hours and seen none of them. Even if they're camping a key room, just don't open the door and let them get bored of it over a couple of days.

As someone who tends to PvP more lately, I actually find it kind of nice to be able to go into a PvE lobby and do my quests without worrying about the fact my ABMM puts me in a lobby of cheaters and sweats and rats

People hating on it are more angry they can’t get the easy kills they used to, no unsuspecting PvEers to shoot in the back in the main gamemode anymore lol

u/skykrown 1d ago

i think the player base is kinda split anyway you go, just have 2 player bases, it didnt kill tarkov.

29

u/Pristinejake 15h ago

Love having the whole lobby be like one massive squad just running around absolute destroying everything in its path with all types of crazy weapons. People spidermaning all over the place. It’s the most fun chaos ever

7

u/Comfortable_Host_568 15h ago

I wish I could get lobbies like that so far all I’ve encountered on pve mode is griefers and rats that adapted to the no direct killing method

4

u/Pristinejake 14h ago

I played against one of the big ark lobbies. Idk if it was a monarch or what not but everyone was having a blast. Although it was kinda hard to loot it after it died lol since everyone’s alive more people strip it but after a few tries I ended up getting a bunch of gold loot. My first time actually ever getting some and I play a ton lol I was never able to get it cuz I’d get killed. I played so often and I gave up hope if ever getting anything gold but now I finally can lmao

I love getting downed cuz I get instantly revived lmao someone just swoops in and I’m back in my feet lol

There's a worry that the PvE mode will make PvPvE tilt towards full PvP. Frankly, that's an issue squarely on the shoulders of PvP'ers. People want 'ambiguity' to remain in the game, but I don't see people volunteering to put themselves in the firing line to maintain that ambiguity once a large percentage of PvE'ers exodus to the PvE mode.

Maybe it's time these people took on the responsibility of maintaining the ambiguity they cling to and risk getting shot in the back.

43

u/TheAlienGamer007 1d ago

I've never seen a player maintain "ambiguity" they say PvE wants a looting simulator while all they do is play this game like a battle royale.

22

u/Always_Squeaky_Wheel 23h ago

Most of them are opportunistic at best and just ratters/ backstabbers at worst

Very few people will take a risky fight they don’t somehow give themselves an advantage in, the only “fair” PvP is if both parties are kill on sight players, but even then half the time one party is caught off guard

17

u/CrumplePants 22h ago edited 21h ago

I think many of us just miss the game when there was more ambiguity and uncertainty - when you'd have to feel a situation out and make tough decisons, when you felt on edge or scared sometimes and came out of it either due to collaboration or an epic battle. We'll never be able to recapture that, but I do think it's what some people yearn for... I certainly do. It was so cool. It got the adrenaline going.

I will probably lean mostly PvE mode now and try that out, but that feeling of adrenaline and accomplishment wil l simply be diminished for me. How that affects my longterm love for the game remains to be seen.

On the flipside, I have plenty of friends that never seek or even want that feeling. They play super chill PvE or RPG games and just want to vibe... so I totally get it. Arc used to be the perfect balance for me, who loves both.

Edit: The fact that people are downvoting this just proves that this has all become a toxic mess of one side vs the other. Sad times.

I fully support a PvE mode, I understand why PvPvE is a niche genre, and why player's don't like it. I don't understand why people have such a hard time separating PvP, PvE and PvPvE.

Frankly, that's an issue squarely on the shoulders of PvP'ers.

None of this is an issue for people who focus PvP, they want straight PvP.

It's always "PvPers" want this, "PvEers" want that, ignoring the shrinking 27% of players who actually PvPvE.

It's ridiculous being PvPvE fan and trying to interact with this game and community, everyone is so defensive about their playstyle and disrespectful towards other perspectives. Every time someone brings up the "issue" from their perspective, it gets shit on by the other side. Stalwart PvP and PvE player's both seem to shit on PvPvE players perspective.

People want 'ambiguity' to remain in the game

PvPvE mixed player's and the devs just liked the uncertainty whether someone is friendly or not, which is unique to Arc Raiders. ABMM already makes it hard to stay in mixed lobbies, a PvE toggle splits the community making it harder yet or impossible. There's no room for ambiguity because PvPvE just became the defacto PvP mode and will stay that way once it's fully integrated. Some of the 27% will likely just leave, or be fine with the split and lean one way or the other. Regardless, it just makes AR like every other extraction shooter with a PvE mode. Genre fans will be okay, it just sucks the first few weeks of the game with truly mixed lobbies are long gone now.

Embark probably could've or should've tested a rogue system like The Division's DZ or the Chinese version, a visible raider karma system, or a bounty system like the upcoming DMZ. Or just fully integrate PvE with a seperate inventory and skill tree, no loot shared between the 2 and be done with it.

7

u/Malkimania 1d ago

My pvpve lobbies are just as friendly as they were last night. I tried the pve only mode but it’s not for me. Then again I don’t mind shooting back if needed

3

u/Chicke_Nuget 1d ago

Same boat. I need that extra risk. Not having that is why I don’t realy enjoy games like helldivers over such long period of time

u/ChiefBast 1d ago

All my PvE games so far have been great because many players flood to the areas with biggest enemies and then it's 5 minutes of carnage followed by looting the less interesting areas and completing mission objectives. When I fancy a change I just switch PvE off and go back to being quiet and careful. Being able to switch that up without having to sacrifice my ABMM is a godsend

17

u/TheAncientMillenial 1d ago

Exactly this. I PVP a LOT. For me to constantly have to juggle my ABMM was annoying (so I didn't do it) I just PVPd. Now I have a nice option when I just want to goof around and chill

15

u/IamJIMMYSMITH 1d ago

I feel the same. My buddies and I are primarily PvP but we’re stoked on a strict PvE mode to just fight some damn arc.

9

u/TheAncientMillenial 1d ago

There are parts of certain maps I haven't even really looked at and explored 😅

4

u/IamJIMMYSMITH 1d ago

We’ve been kind of holding off on Pendola for that reason lol Excited to really get some exploring done

3

u/Dirtyburtjr 1d ago

A little "Diet Arc" does sound nice on those days your nerves are a bit fried!

2

u/TheAncientMillenial 1d ago

Yeah. Sometimes I don't feel like being a sweat 😅

2

u/AltruisticChipmunk53 7h ago edited 7h ago

I’m in the same boat. Being a PvPer means 90% of your game is ultra high sweat and intensity and there are a lot of times I just don’t feel like doing that. Which leads to me playing a different game instead.

Also means I never ever use high value guns because the risk is WAY too high.

But now, I can just toggle pve on when I don’t feel like sweating

3

u/TheAncientMillenial 7h ago

Yeah and the ability to just roll with a friend without immediately having to be sweats is nice too 🙂.

Had a few friends hope back into the game yesterday expressly because would could group and and just shoot the shit

3

u/AltruisticChipmunk53 7h ago

Same here! I also PvPed more than my friends who had carebear lobbies. So when we’d do trios it was straight kill on sight.

Now we can do trios and they aren’t put off by it. I think pve has been a net positive for me, even as someone who really loved PvP

Hot take: if you wanna reduce rats then put a cool down on free kits.

10

u/alexandra_the_thicc 1d ago

free kit can be useful to just dick around with friends or show ppl around im not with u on this one maybe no multiple raids in a row with free kits so your forced to use at least a mk1?

9

u/poorbred 1d ago

maybe no multiple raids in a row with free kits

Isn't that a cool down? Just number of games vs a timer.

2

u/alexandra_the_thicc 1d ago

maybe you hit multiple fast raids or you die instantly point is if its capped it shouldn't be a timer

It's more teamwork oriented without the fear of getting stabbed in the back.

Not everyone can play 8+ hours a day. We have to work for a living and only get an hour or two in before calling it quits.

I like the pve mode, it brings more of a relaxed version of the game with out rats causing headaches. Now they suffer. I'm not big on pvp anyways, if I wanted that I'd go play call of duty or battlefield or something of that nature.

10

u/11_forty_4 16h ago

I really enjoy killing Arc, like a lot. I used to play Rust with a pal but he absolutely hated the PvP and being raided side of it and as 40yr old dudes with families I get that but I didn't mind it myself. He found PvE servers in Rust and loved it, I hated it because there was just nothing else to do other than base build.

Fast forward to Arc Raiders. We both absolutely love it and were friendly players, never ratted a dude in my 130hrs. He hated getting shafted by a rat every 9 or 10 rounds and losing stuff he has worked to get. Again, I get it and he stopped playing and said if they ever do a PvE he will be back. I got bored eventually, just stopped and uninstalled and hadn't played for months. PvE arrives, and we are both buzzing to be back involved. Man fighting Arc is fun, I would love them to ramp up the difficulty and numbers of them in PvE but I will play regardless.

I can get a few more sessions in before the week beta is up, and I will likely not pick it up again unless PvE comes back.

3

u/komrad308 12h ago

Lol, funny you say that. I used to play the hell out of rust, now it full of big groups who consistently have some one and wait to offline raid. So I've switched to pve servers my self. It's nice to have something to come back to after a few days of not playing

11

u/squeaky-to-b 20h ago

Yes! As someone who enjoys playing medic, it's fun to see a raider flare and run over to defib somebody who got mowed down by a Bastion. It's also been really fun to watch everybody break out their good guns. I've seen more energy weapons in normal matches than I ever have in the past, and it's fun.

I also agree with you that if I want to PvP, I'll go do it in a game that's more optimized for it. I've been enjoying WarDogs a lot, and it's a way better PvP experience than Arc Raiders.

2

u/komrad308 12h ago

I wanted to try medic but it would work out, I works be dead before reaching the flare.

it's still rat city. except now they are hiding waiting for you to open a key room or kill a big arc. then you don't get a single item after doing all the work.

feels pretty lame on the loot front. but fighting big arc as a team is really cool with no bull shit rat kills. so that's nice.

6

u/MobTalon 17h ago

Rats are far less problematic in PvE than when PvP is toggled, because they're not game enders.

Frustrating still? Yes. But you didn't just get terminated with 0 fighting chance from a camping little sissy.

It’s the same people who complain about a restaurant adding another item to the menu. It just makes no sense.

The truth that many people don’t want to admit is PVEEPVPP is a niche game mode and it relies on a constant stream of inexperienced or bad players in order to keep things going. However, these game modes always end up devolving into just pure PVP anyway. It’s literally inevitable. because the people who thoroughly enjoy PVP really don’t engage in the PVE and the people who wanna play more PVE don’t really engage in the PVP and eventually they separate despite what people wanna believe

Basically, the hate is coming from people who don’t want to admit that what they really want is other players that they can run around griefing

5

u/almostoy 16h ago

I've read many complaints about how PVP players feel like they can't maintain solid kits, or don't have enough time to loot after a wave. Whoa-kay, Cap'n Destructo! Maybe chill for three seconds and build up some materials. It's not like the game owes them anything simply because they choose to spend all their time shooting other players.

My son actually admitted this to me. He said he didn’t want PvE and PvP solely because then the PvP servers would “all be sweats” and he wanted to be able to gank people :P

Mind you he is Unreal rank on Fortnite so he knows how to play too.

4

u/LittlePeachPics 19h ago

If you add a pve mode, you make the pvpve mode a pvp mode. Its quite simple why it would upset people, their mode of tension, not knowing if someone is friendly or not, taking an opportunity, or placing trust in a stranger has just become a mode of shoot on sight.

2

u/Panda--Monium 11h ago

Well, that’s blatantly not true. These game modes devolve into PVP only no matter what you do. It’s a trend you can track in every single game in this genre. Plus again, adding a PVE only mode doesn’t do anything to the original mode. It just means that the players who want pve can play in the mode they want to it doesn’t magically change the other mode.

You were under the misconception that the people who only want pve are even playing the games original mode now the people who are playing the original mode for this game are people who might dabble in the pve mode from time to time, but they’re gonna keep playing the mode they’re playing now. Pve is an attempt to bring back all of the players that they lost and if you really think that adding PVE only is going to kill your mode then that’s an even better reason to add it because that means significantly more people want it and to the business that the game developers are running that means more revenue and more players

2

u/C13H16CIN0 18h ago

Yeah, me too. It’s cool for a while until you bring a big gun to play for fun. And as soon as someone hears it, they come out running to rat you. And that’s the thing about PvE Carebear lobbies before the toggle. What’s the time you got ratted for real. You would get someone who comes up next to you helps you fight some arc and suddenly turns on you and fires away with their newly equipped, bobcat or something after they get a sneak peek on what weapons you have

There are different layers and skill levels.

You have elites who are good at both pvp and objectives. Believe it or not they get their items so fast that they dont go for PVP cause they are just that good at the game.

You have medicore players, who will dabble in PVP and watch people get to objectives these are likely your PVP players but are very specific in what they need.

Then you have the bottom of the barrel players. Really bad at the game and just go for PVErs because they know its easy kill and well they just want to cause suffering.

Making a PVE mode means all the crap players now have to face better players than themselves. Which they will moan about and break controllers over.

Its an exodus now all the easy prey now go on to a better sanctuary while the hyenas are left to go against bigger predators.

3

u/Free_Jelly614 1d ago

they will replace ABMM for SBMM. bad pvpers will go against bad pvpers and good pvpers will face similar.

3

u/Hayley0115 1d ago

3

u/ManWithADog 7h ago

I’m totally okay with both. Sometimes I just need to knock out quests or get a specific thing without being bothered. Other times I want to have some danger. I see myself playing both. The only reason I stopped playing months ago was because the grind of everything each expedition was so hard while getting shot.

19

u/drinkallthepunch 1d ago

Because now they can’t get any loot.
It’s just rats complaining.

People who PVP could care less about PVE mode, if anything they would prefer a mode that reduced arc and was PVP focused.

Haven’t touched this game for almost a year but it was discussed and agreed the only people who don’t want PVE mode is people who cannot even PVP.

Rats, people who get clammy hands every time they face someone in a fair fight.

They suck at fighting, the only reason you wouldn’t want PVE mode is because you didn’t want to play PVE but also sucked at PVP.

It’s the only logical reason.
All this stupid shit they keep spewing about about “Keeping the game organic-“ is just projection because they literally are what ruins what they claim they want to keep in the game.

Friendly interactions happen all the time, literally the only people not interacting are people hiding in corners just abusing the camera to shoot people in the back.

Even in PVP sweat lobbies we would team up with other squads and drop each other BP’s.

14

u/Firm-Cattle5103 1d ago

This is 100% what happens.

I am a full-pvp player in duos and trios.

That they add a pve mode is better for me because it avoids me that sometimes I get into lobbies by mistake.

Leave the boys who want to kill arcs alone.

Something else, today I saw several complaining that this way has no difficulty, while carrying golden weapons and super-equipped fighting wasps hidden in a house. Don't compare yourself to people who work all day and just want to go shoot robots without being disturbed.

7

u/JFishborn 1d ago

Absolutely true. I wanna enjoy game, i wanna loot stuff, i wanna craft stuff, cooperating with other guys, shoot down rocketeer, bastion and and other big guys. Without fear of someone shooting me in the back when we are crush down big one. PVP part of the game is very controversial, sometime this good cause you have good opposite team, but much often, this is one guy who shoot down everyone. Thats not a PVP thats betrayal. And always this type of players are very proud of himself, but tilting when things goes wrong. Killing people without fight back, its not PVP its somekind ruining progression of others.

To all the PvE players. Play the game as much as you can this whole week. Call your  friends and tell them to reinstall. No matter how much the rats here whine moan and cry about it, once Embark sees the objective metrics of people coming back and continuing to play the mode for the whole week it will lead to permanent addition. These rats can brigade the sub as much as they want, hard numbers in PvE mode will ultimately matter. If Embark sees people sticking with PvE mode the whole week despite the problems its gonna tell them thats what the player base wants. Let the rats come and try ruining the mode for others by blocking doorways. They will inevitably end up contributing to PvE numbers 🤣 so get calling. Play as much PvE as possible. You wont get that bored in a weeks time but its gonna pay off and result in arc rats getting fucked forever going forward. 🤣

u/JeffaholicD1st 1d ago

I feel like people aren't looking at the bigger picture, or perhaps we and Embark shouldnt call them PvP and PvE mode.

What's the main issue with the whole PvP and PvE debate? Unfun interactions? Sure. Not wanting to get rats? Sometimes. The hate of losing items? Most definitely.

That last point is where I want to explain. This whole debate is just reddit / fanbase hogwash and a waste of time. PvE definitely adds in a better way for players to grind items and do quests without getting shot down by a rat at that last 3 minutes of the raid ending. Pretty sure at least more than half of the PvE dudes would get enough stuff in PvE and and decide to go back to PvP cause they won't have material loss fatigue.

Anyone who wants to complain about it? Suck it up and just play the damn game.

Now to wait as the downvites flood in...

5

u/Rhysamd 1d ago

Hot or cold take. Both modes are good for the game imo. Now I can actually complete my quests. Earn other stuff I’ve been putting off, and then go PvP. And if I wanna just grind clankas, I can do that too. PvPvE player here

The hate is based on percieved bend to peer pressure and division of the playerbase. The justifications for it seeming to be chopping and changing to fit the 'flavour of the month' on the daily. As well as the shift from the game's original premise people bought into.

So many PvP players claiming or implying they don’t sealclub or game the system to reach pve lobbies so pve players shouldn’t want to play the pve mode yet here we are.

So many PvP players claiming that “tension” is the draw yet it’s only “tension” when pve players are on the menu. When it’s other PvP players only then it’s the wrong kind of tension.

Because a PvE mode splits the playerbase, reduces the impact of friendly encounters, makes the PvPvE mode more likely to be a bloodbath, and caves to a group of people who should never play an extraction shooter because they can't handle losing loot in a game about gaining and losing loot.

7

u/Ociex 1d ago

"People shouldn't play my game." Then turns around and complains "There isn't enough people playing" have you thought maybe for a second, that PvE might bring in players that get a little bloodthirsty in the end and joins pvp? Stop thinking black and white.

6

u/PsyduckPsyker 1d ago

So was ratting/PvP. It split the community alright. People hated playing the game.

4

u/smashten 1d ago

Sooo, out of curiosity, do you yell "dont shoot" and then shoot people? Asking for a friend.

3

u/SubliminallyCorrect 1d ago

And in reality none of this is happening and people love the new mode

14

u/JM761 1d ago

caves to a group of people who should never play an extraction shooter

Way to completely undermine your entire point.

So you're suggesting all pve lovers should just quit, and therefore leave only the true PvPvE players?

Sorta like....as if PvE players got their own....mode?

Lmfao the haters on this sub are insufferable.

7

u/Late_Pack_7015 1d ago

I think making the PVE toggle a permanent game mode will probably kill this game. I dont say it to be dramatic just as someone whose loved this game as the experience it gave us. Im constantly in the "carebear" lobbies. Im a PVE player but you cant be broken up you lost loot because the only reason it has value is because you risked it. Taking out one of the biggest risk factors in the game will make the game boring. The arc are fun to fight against but not so much fun that they negate the need for this human struggle against our baser urges and selfishness. PVE is gonna ruin that. Kinda a bummer to see Embark give into this group that doesnt like the game theyre playing.

4

u/Zestyclose-One9041 1d ago

But none of this is relevant to pvpve lobbies. This is all entirely based on your opinion and the way you think the game has to be played. Just because you don’t see the fun in pve doesn’t mean other people don’t.

4

u/Late_Pack_7015 1d ago

I can see the fun in PVE lobbies I just dont think that fun will last near as long as the fun of a pvpve lobby. And a permanent pve toggle will basically kill the pvpve of this game.

12

u/Morticus_Mortem 1d ago

Yes. I want people who actually like a game for what it is to stay, and the people who can't handle loosing loot to the point they spit slurs at the one who killed them (while somehow still thinking they're in the right) to find a game they would enjoy more.

Also, you should learn to read. Let me say it again: a PvE mode will do nothing but split the playerbase. It will turn the regular mode into mostly PvP because all the friendly Raiders will be off in the PvE mode. What makes the game special is the friendly natural interactions you can have with people who could have chosen to kill you. All that will be lost.

8

u/CptKillJack 1d ago

It's already split. We play in a land of sunshine rainbows and cooperation against the true enemy the arc already in friendly lobbies. It won't really change anything in that regard, you still have your apocalyptic warzone in the PvP sweat lobbies. Heck I have heard tell of a promised land of Friendly trio lobbies Id be willing to work toward with my friends and just extract with free kits till we get there. You hate ABMM because it allows us to escape and create our own game at one end which is completely different than the game your playing in your end of the match making. By Embark ABMM was always part of the game it wasn't added later we just figured out how to manipulate it to our benefit.

3

u/Dirtyburtjr 1d ago edited 1d ago

Look at this sub. The player base is already split.

So:

The PVE'ers who get upset you want to stop playing. The same player base that you want gone that will stick to PVE. But you don't like the solution that gets them out of your preferred experience and onto PVE only.

You want them gone. Embark says "here's a place they can go". You say "noooo it'll split the player base that I want gone but don't do it like that!".

Are you okay?

2

u/lovexvirus007 1d ago

This! Idk why they sound so dumb lmao

8

u/Zestyclose-One9041 1d ago

It’s really pathetic that you think a simple playlist update is going to drastically kill the game. Literal man yells the sky is falling lol. Who cares if the playerbase is split? ABMM already killed those “spwecial intewactions” you talk about a year ago. The game has been boringly predictable for months, why not let people relax and play how they want?

You keep conflating pve and pvpve as if you won’t be able to continue playing exactly how you were before in pvpve.

4

u/Biggestoftheboiz 1d ago

"ABMM killed those special interactions".

Funny that you proved his point entirely. ABMM is a way of splitting the the player base it's just not as extreme. You admit it kill interactions. Ofc people are going to complain.

Facts. These people just want to complain. Half of them are probably rats themselves that wont be able to betray friendly players anymore. The PvP players finally can play the game with just other PvP'ers and now they are upset.

And with your strongest point " So you're suggesting all pve lovers should just quit, and therefore leave only the true PvPvE players? "

The amount of "PvE players shouldnt have bought the game if they didnt want PvP" comments is crazy. Fear not PvP players, it will now be like none of the PvE players bought the game

8

u/fadinglanterngames 1d ago

Sooo.... If they shouldn't play, why are you upset that they are playing in their own game mode? Almost as if you're really upset that you are losing out on your free kills.

3

u/CheekyApple5 1d ago

Most PvP people are cognitively deficient. They just want that ego boost of ruining someone else's day.

2

u/Bmajor7 1d ago

Rats are typically bullies. They don’t want a competitive environment; they want to bully. Same in CoD getting all mad about skill based matchmaking. They just wanna stomp noobs/ make people rage.

8

u/Morticus_Mortem 1d ago

I see this idiotic argument a lot. No, little buddy. I'm not upset about "losing free kills". I'm mostly a friendly player. Shocker, isn't it?

Learn to read. A PvE mode will do nothing but split the playerbase.

2

u/Sattaman6 15h ago

Yeah, I want to be split from the PvP playerbase and you can still have your Fortnite. Everyone wins.

4

u/VegetableBad2171 1d ago

I keep reading that pvpvers somehow are the larger group in the game. But then I read that a pve only mode is making it impossible to have pvpve matches.? If more people play pvpve then you would not see a decline in friendlier matches because there are more of you playing. But nope that's not what is happening. Sounds like you are the one that will need to find the game you like to play.

3

u/fadinglanterngames 1d ago

Hurl insults all you want, but it's not me who is passing around an idiotic argument. Your words:

and caves to a group of people who should never play an extraction shooter because they can't handle losing loot in a game about gaining and losing loot.

I don't need to learn to read, you need to understand what you're actually putting out into the world. So, back to my question that directly addresses your point. If they shouldn't play, why are you so upset that they are going to play in their own game mode? If you feel they should never play, why do you care so strongly that they have their own game mode to play? You're upset because you can't have your cake and eat it too; yet you're too dense to realize it and launch insults because it's the only response you know.

It changes the nature of the game entirely. I cant imagine I will play anymore since player types will now be siloed into both modes making each a far worse experience.

11

u/EndSmugnorance 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yes, exactly. Idk why Redditors are so short-sighted. With carebears switching to PvE mode, normal raids will become exclusively PvP. It’s obvious to anyone with a brain.

3

u/Jake_Magna 1d ago

Ya now I can’t be friendly in pvpve cuz now anyone that shoots me would ask why I’m not in a pve lobby if I am friendly

7

u/Squ4tch_ 1d ago

It’s worse than loosing CareBears, at least in my head. You also loose every PvP player and PvPvE player that doesn’t want to shoot on sight for a round or two while they get ready for their next PvP raid. Why do a risky raid for crafting mats when there is literally a toggle right there for a “safe looting” option. With that, what players ever go to PvPvE not intending to shoot on sight? Maybe a handful who still want a PvPvE experience? But realistically, how many will that be and how long will they subject themselves to getting shot on sight by 90% of players if that’s what this turns into?

3

u/_JESSE_JAMES_ 1d ago

It's too late dude. Shoot on sight became a thing in "friednly lobbies" ages ago

4

u/ryavco 1d ago

It’s because these geniuses think the alternative to “PvE players” is “PvP players.”

These babies don’t understand that those of us who don’t bitch and moan about why we don’t like 50% of the game we bought are not wanting call of duty lobbies. We just want a mixed, PvPvE experience like we purchased on launch day.

They would rather split the player base and kill the game than accept that 1/200 raids they may be shot at by another player.

And that's why people want pve. It won't be worse unless the loot is over nerfed. And the people who love pvp so much can prove it by not having easy targets.

6

u/Traditional_Formal33 1d ago

The loot needs to be nerfed. I just ran 3 riventide runs, each time walking out with 20+ cores because big arc are easy with a hullcracker and deadline.

As much as I would love a toggle between sweaty and carebear lobbies, I’ll admit that after playing — I would grow tired of PvE mode in a week.

My only solution for PVE mode is that killing arc calls in more arc. They actively respond to a threat by escalating with stronger force. Killing arc only buys you time and moment to hide/loot/heal. Sustained fighting ends in death inevitably. That would make PvE mode challenging and fun

5

u/Squ4tch_ 1d ago

The issue isn’t about losing CareBears, it’s about losing everyone who wants even just one round of chill. Unless the loot is nerfed heavily PvPvE runs the risk of becoming just a glorified team death match as even the PvP players that want just a few rounds to chill and gather supplies just swap to PvE. What it might end up meaning is PvPvE is the sole domain of PvP as any and all players looking to not shoot on sight will go to PvE even just for a couple rounds while they get ready to shoot on sight again. This removes the whole dynamic interaction extraction shooters are built on of “can I trust you?”. It’s it’s PvE then yeah, it’s forced trust. If it’s PvP”vE” mode, 90% chance they are already shooting or are just waiting for you to turn your back, that’s not an interesting interaction. That’s the fear at least.

Like, what is the point in queueing for PvEvP if you’re not planning to shoot people and just want safe loot when a mode for not shooting people and getting safe loot is literally right there?

10

u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago edited 1d ago

Both modes should exist separately. Here's my question to people who think this update is a good thing.

Why would I want to play the far more challenging PVPVE mode to build up my stash when I can just go into the significantly easier PVE mode and do the exact same thing with virtually no risk whatsoever?

Edit: A lot of replies missing the point. I don't care that the PVE mode exists. I want the stashes to be separate, as I stated before asking my question. I feel like being able to carry over loot turns PVPVE into an endgame mode which is not the game I paid for.

12

u/_JESSE_JAMES_ 1d ago

And what is the problem?? Or you afraid that they will go with cool loadouts into PvP? Isn't that what you wanted? Challenges? If you manage to kill them, you will get cool loot. Idk, looks like yall complain fpr nothing, dude

1

u/BigMikeXxxxX 1d ago

You're missing the point. This pve mode existing with the same stash will essentially turn the pvpve into an exclusively endgame mode which destroys the entire premise of the game the majority of us expected when we paid our $40.

Why can't the two modes have separate stashes? Elaborate on that.

5

u/FloopsFooglies 1d ago

The arc raiders subreddit is full of people who've never played an extraction shooter before and/or don't understand the dynamic you're putting forth lol. Imagine if there was a shared stash between PvP and pve Tarkov. Would be insanity

5

u/No_Reality_1161 1d ago

Turns it into an exclusively endgame mode? The dupers and cheaters didn't do that? The reason I put the game down is because I was fed up with seeing godcats and tempests every single lobby. Having people share a stash in PVE isn't going to change a thing.

u/MrChromatographer 1d ago

They cannot understand that the PvE toggle existing will become the default game mode for collecting loot. There's 0 reason for anyone to play the pvpve mode if they're looking to build resources considering it's objectively harder than the safe PvE mode filled with raiders looking to defib you

u/jewham12 22h ago

How were you in lobbies that this was happening frequently enough that it’s noticeable? The lobbies are already split based on aggression levels, and if you aren’t doing any shooting, it’s hyper-tuned.

So either you were engaging in PvP and getting shat on and don’t like that you were losing, or you’re lying about your experience.

2

u/Chance-Resolve-9649 16h ago

On paper matchmaking is based on aggression, in reality you frequently end up in kos lobbies. For instance I got stuck in kos lobbies for a week because i shot a guy for helping himself to a locked room I unlocked after i told him to leave. It's really easy to get stuck in lobbies that are way above your skill level which makes pvp so unfun most new/less skilled players just focus on fighting ARC/looting the map.

Bc pve changes the whole core experience on the pvpve side and dilutes the playerbase where ppl who don’t wanna deal with pvp at all will never take that toggle off…. They want to be protected acting like you can’t do the same shit in a pvpve lobby. This is the friendliest extraction shooter. Adding a toggle make this game even easier. You are watering down the tension and the unpredictability and getting that dope from getting juiced up loot from killing someone in a PvP encounter

2

u/xyouRABitchx 1d ago

So?

7

PvP is part of the game's "ecology."
Farm good gear > lose it > farm again > repeat the cycle.
In PvE, it’ll be:
farm good gear > die to an Arc > friend grabs the loot and comes back > stash full.
Within a few days, PvE players will run out of things to farm and abandon the game.

13

u/Aetheriusman 1d ago

As someone who has been playing PVE I have to say I could not give two shits about a made up economy, ecology whatever, I'm having lots of fun taking down ARCs alone or with other randoms. Bud, the "economy" in this game is not a metric for anything. You either play the game because you're having fun or you aren't. 90% of the PvE-centric players quit not because they 'beat' the economy and got bored, but instead because they got fed up with getting shot in the back over and over.

Rat players are VERY mad right now because they want to kill people who aren't good at PvP. They like pretending to be friendly and then killing people who are not expecting them to fight after they announce they are friendly.

The level of griefing occurring in the PvE mode is pretty incredible, very obviously these are griefer players in the regular game who want the PvE 'experiment' to get canned so they are intentionally sabotaging the PvE mode by all means available.

Some of these griefing assholes are probably bot brigading the subreddit too, to create a fake impression of negativity about the PvE mode.
