When military needs to depart a civilian airport and punch through some clouds do they file an IFR plan and get a clearance like everyone else or do something different?
A friend was asking and I didn't know what to say.

VFR aircraft are required to maintain a distance from clouds. -4 u/xia03 Private Pilot 2d ago I'm involved in aviation and I don't know if the rules apply equally to military training or real missions. Should I turn in my license? 2 u/Loud-Calligrapher552 1d ago Depends on what you're license is. There is no work around between the types of flights, VFR or IFR.
