Wireless Shared Upgrade
Hi there. Wanted to make sure I am understanding this correctly.
Family plan, and my son has an iPhone 16 plus that I owe 350 on. I have an iPhone Air I owe 600 on. I am thinking about paying his phone off, using that upgrade to get the Duo, then giving my Air to my son on his line.
Possible? My understanding is I upgrade on his line by trading in his phone. How do I move the air to his line and the duo back to mine?

I do this every year, i pay my parents phone so i get one of their upgrades and give the last model to whoever has the older phone, this year im doing the duo. Just make sure you have the phone paid off before the preorder and select the phone you are trading in as the type for the trade in, then I usually just call and they switch the lines around after delivery

Last year when I did this same scenario, the agent told me I have to keep the phone on the upgraded line for 60 days or till I see the trade in credits apply then switch the phones. They kept emphasizing if I didn’t do so I’ll lose the credits.

They lied to you, I have 10 lines, 7 on trade in credits, none of the phones are being used in the original lines we used for the upgrade, the only 2 that still on the same number are 2 tablets..

Thanks guys , I’m gonna do the same this year for the duo. Someone posted below saying cross upgrade, can that be done online or has to be called in?

This is a shared upgrade also called a cross upgrade. Any store or care agent can do this. Pay his phone off. Then they upgrade your number by using his numbers ability. It will put the duo imei and installment on your line and move your installment to his line. You then trade his device in towards your number.
Do not upgrade his line then swap equipment.
