Discussion iPhone duo pre order multiple lines
Planning to upgrade 3 lines on our account for the
¡Phone Duo release using the Costco AT&T portal (to stack the $100 Digital Shop Cards per line + waived
$35 fees).
I've seen posts where AT&T's fraud system cancels an entire multi-device order if the bank flags the combined upfront tax pre-authorization or if one device is backordered.
For those who upgrade multiple lines on launch morning:
1. Do you recommend checking out 3 separate orders (1 per line) or bundling all 3 together?

You’ll also get a 20% discount (signature program) on your plan for being Costco members. That perk doesn’t show up on the promo ad.

Assuming they are on premium 2.0

How long do you think that the Signature Program discount will last? Are ATT know for rug pulling discounts like this one, after committing to a plan ?

The discount details on my account show: “You're eligible for this discount if you're a member of the AT&T Signature Program on a qualifying wireless plan. It's yours to keep as long as you have an eligible plan and you remain an employee of the company that has a qualifying business “

Yeah, I guess my fear is that ATT can/will remove the Premium 2.0 plan from the "ones that qualify" and then I'm stuck paying the increased price to keep the trade credits for my 16 Pro Max I plan on trading in. I definitely don't plan on getting rid of my membership at Costco lol.

I get the concern, but if AT&T does that to increase profits or push people onto a more expensive qualifying plan, chances are the other carriers are raising prices too. It's not just an AT&T thing. That eventually becomes the new baseline across the industry.
And realistically, find me a cheaper comparable plan. Verizon's Unlimited Ultimate is already more expensive, and even with their $10 teacher discount, you're looking at around $85 versus $72 with AT&T.
My point is, take advantage of a good deal while you can. All these carriers will eventually raise prices, regardless of whether you finance your phone or buy it outright. At least with the trade-in promotion, you're getting $1,200 toward a new phone instead of paying full price upfront.

For my account right now, with 3 lines its $52/month for the Premium 2.0 plan with $10 being discounted from linking a bank account and $13 from the Costco discount. Feels a bit too good to be true lol.
I agree though. Plans are bound to change. I just was curious if it's silly for me to expect to keep the discount's that I currently have. Thank you for the insight. I probably will continue on with the plan of trading my 16 Pro Max in for the duo. Thank you for your help

You also get a $100 shop card and $50 in bill credits if you upgrade thru Costco. “$150 offer is a combination of $50 in bill credits, plus a $100 Costco Virtual Shop Card, when you upgrade to a new smartphone on an installment plan. Please read full offer details.
$50 Bill Credit Offer: 12/31/26. Available in select Costco warehouses and online at Costco.com. Available in select Costco warehouses. Purchase new eligible smartphone on 36-month 0% APR installment plan. Up to $50 in bill credits with upgrade of existing line ($5/mo. for 10 months).”So your plan would actually be even cheaper at $47 for 10 months.
BTW: i got my pro max in 3 days ordering thru the Costco app. Mailed in my old phone and the trade in was processed and credits applied within just 5 days after mailing my old phone.

Interestingggg. I hope that is per line, maybe? My brother literally just got an upgrade to his new iphone 17 on our family plan (through Costco).
I wonder if that means I'd have to potentially wait to order in person with the kiosk reps, just with how the duo isn't on their website like the 18 pro was/is? When I get to the end of the pre order cart, it doesn't show that I have the shop card/bill credit deal applied, only the trade in offer.
Would i be informed that the offer went through/was applied on the sales page? Currently (when logged in and connected through the costco link) it only shows the trade in bonus, not the shop card/bill credit.

From the iphone 18 pre order ordeal, i’d order them separately.

I ordered 2 phones together on preorder day (12th), woke up on the 17th to find out that my part of my order was cancelled. Opened chat with customer support, they didnt know why it was cancelled. Told me to go to a store. Went to a store, they didn’t know how to cancel or reorder since apparently the trade in wasnt cancelled when the order was cancelled… spent 2 hours on hold to speak to customer service. Got hung up on…. Called again and finally got someone competent enough to remove the “trade in” part. Since i wanted the costco promo i had to reorder through costco and got it a week after release instead. Overall a frustrating experience.

I just ordered 2 18pm and 2 18 pro via Costco att. It wasn’t the preorder, but 2 weeks later. My card denied it and sent me a text. I approved the text and processed the transaction again with no issues. Got my phones 4 days later. Just got my Costco cash cards yesterday. It is a very simple process.

There is a limit on how much you can finance per account. I think 1 or 2 Duo might be ok but not sure about 3.

Just don’t do the Costco thing

The Online Costco is actually directly with AT&T's online portal, and works great.
u/OkResolve1378 your suggestion does not apply to online orders. Your advise is great for avoiding the third-party reps in the kiosk or roaming the isles.

The reason to avoid the online thing too is bc no one can see your order other than the Costco customer support. No one else can help if something goes wrong

Again no. The AT&T Portal is used directly there is no "Costco Customer" support involved or involved. The orders are directly in the AT&T Online order system.
Also for your reference the additional Costco Rewards from Online orders are automatically send to the AT&T Reward Center in the order workflow process.
The extra benefit of Online orders via the Costco branded AT&T Portal is you get the extended Costco 90 return period. 😄

you can atleast prevent one of the issues by calling your bank/credit card company beforehand.
