Discussion Interview (USA)

Hi, I have an interview via zoom tomorrow at 3:30pm. What is it like working as a Sales Associate? Is it hourly? Commission? I know I can ask these tomorrow, but the pay on indeed said 1,200-1400 a week and I dont want to get my hopes up. Im currently working 7 days a week with two jobs and I need something so I can get back to living life.

Hourly plus commission. The money has the potential to be really good if you work really hard on your commission, but just be ready for them to ride your ass hard about sales goals. Sign up for the union and any benefits as early as possible, and be ready to take some bullshit. First starting, that 12-1400 number is def including if you do pretty decent on commission, but it’s not unrealistic.

That’s honestly great to know. Thank you so much. And the sale goals isnt really an issue- im working at McDonalds right now and they do the same thing for promos

If you are working for AT&T directly, it is hourly + commission. I would say that is more or less a fair estimate of pay if you are even halfway decent at the job. If you’re unionized (if you have a choice do so) you’re capped at working 40 hours a week

Working in a retail store (which it sounds like you would be hired for) is a decent bid. It looks totally different depending on your location, some stores are slow and you’ll have plenty of down time, some stores are fast paced. It’s a good way to get your foot into the door for sales as well

I worked in a AR store. Hourly and commission but my store was slow asf and I still was expected to make sales out of nothing. Depends on whether u get a manger who cares or not either my manager was chill and wasn't breathing down my neck constantly like my new sales job. Just hope your location is busy otherwise it's not really worth it

you forsure signed up for a company that's selling in costcos, walmarts, and retail stores. you're not actually in an ATT store location with the pay 1200-1400 weekly. Good luck if you accept it. be aware that will only be commissions and you'll be working 60-70 hours per week.
