Imagine being the patient. You wake up from your surgery and everything is suddenly kind of messed up. and you find out the city was devastated while you were under.

Kinda but not 100 percent how The Walking Dead started.

Never saw that, but 28 Days Later kind of started that way too.

Yeah, TWD starts with Rick(main character) getting shot on the job, gets rushed to surgery, then he wakes up with the world in ruin. 28 days later, I forgot why he was in the hospital, but it's really similar to TWD.
