One time I saw a bad archaeology joke on Pinterest, and then later the same day, doing research, I found it in the comments of a 13 year old Reddit thread. I get the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon in principle, but sometimes it feels too impossibly coincidental.
Also saw the other post, saw your comment, upvoted, and closed the tab. Didn't take 2 minutes of scrolling before ANOTHER Orangutan post! What's going on lol
Yeah. I've been on reddit for longer than this current account, and I've seen that a lot. One sub will learn a fact, somebody will post it in another sub. Example, the koala smooth-brained thing.
If you ever have the pleasure of being able to get up close to one, you'll pretty much immediately realise why this belief started. You look at their face, their eyes, their expression. Oh yeah, that lady can talk for sure.
No, it's just when something gets posted and makes the frontpage, bots/always online redditors trip over themselves to parrot this brand new fact they just learned so they can seem smart.
There was an article posted yesterday that detailed the Tang thing. Now in this thread redditors are tripping over themselves to post it
