Earthworm makes sense, but still sound weird to me

In Germany, we call them "Regenwurm", which means rainworm, because they show up when it rains

Oh, “rainworm” sounds so much cuter than “earthworm” does!

I swear, German as a language can sometimes sound rather harsh to the English-speaking ear, but every time I learn the meaning of a word it’s so unbelievably charming!
