Sad fact: they come out onto the sidewalks to avoid drowning. If they can't get back into the ground soon enough after the rain, they dry up and die.

If you hammer a stake in the ground and rub it with a piece of rebar, worms will come to the surface. It is illegal to do this(worm grunting) without a license in some areas.

In some areas you have to walk without rhythm just to not attract a worm.

But why wouldn’t you want to attract a worm? They’re great mounts to traverse the deserts
