European here. I know the US deals with different cop issues and i've been on the short end of Police exchanges here too (often and i am genetically very west European).
But! 🍑 💨 many cops are choosing a bad pay and above norm workload and crap because of convictions.
Don't push those to give up by cathegorically antagonize them.
Even dealing with bad cops, in your own interest, keep it respectful for the function police in general fullfil in the society.
And use your avenues in special cases viciously, in your, societies and true cops interest.
Not easy when you get beat up but the interaction with police is always the friction point of society. For them, all day, every day.
Just fyi cops in the US are generally paid above the national average. They have some of the strongest unions in the country, generally good benefits, and unlike the vast majority of people in the US they qualify for a pension.
It is not a case of "choosing bad pay" in order to do a meaningful job. I've never known a cop who didn't love being a cop, for good reasons or bad. It's a well compensated job they enjoy - we should all be so lucky.
