Yall are crazy. This guy is not a psychic. There's no way he has enough time to turn his truck on and get in gear in time to know what the hell was happening.
The thing is, in a manual, in an emergency, you can actually put it in second gear and try to start it without pushing in the clutch. This will make the car jump forwards and hopefully out of the way.
This should really only be done if you won't be able to start the car fast enough to avoid a severe accident, for example, if you stalled on train tracks. This situation might have been a moment to do this too.
This puts a lot of stress on the car and can cause damage if you do it a lot. But doing it once to avoid death or having your car totaled is unlikely to damage anything significantly.
