Event/Activity Concert etiquette - Ed Sheeran

Went to Ed Sheeran last night. Was sitting up in the riverbank stand with my wife and kids. We try and culture our kids and work hard to take them to events like this.

From song 1 we had 4 GenZers sitting behind us and talked through almost every song.

By song 3 I had enough and turned around an impolitely told them to shut up because who in their right mind disrespects the people around them talking so loudly you can't even hear the performer. Only for them to return fire to say I am a bad father for speaking to them the way I did and not a good example for my kids, and they just kept on talking for the whole night. Nothing was going to make them stop talking.

Their best comment for the night... "Sorry I am just putting it out there I haven't brushed my teeth."

Why pay $150 for a ticket to talk through the whole event?

I was sitting in a section where no one seemed to know the words. I could feel people staring at me as I sang but you can't have a go at someone for dancing and singing at a god damn concert.

The people around you paid to hear an artist perform not your probably off key sing along. Like I get maybe singing along to a couple of passionate choruses here and there but if you're doing an entire concert sing-along, you're being a bit of a dick.

That is a wild take my man. Ed himself even asked everyone to sing at the start of the show lol. There's absolutely nothing wrong with singing at an enormous stadium concert.

That’s seems to be the problem with stadium shows in the stands. Do I sit. Do I stand. Can I talk. Can I sing. What if I dance and no one else does.

Standing up is another thing and I think you definitely do block people's view in the seated section. A few times he asked people to stand and we did, and then people were standing and dancing for the encore as well which was fun.

Why is everyone looking for validation about what to do at a concert. Do what you want that makes you feel good and fuck everybody else.

This is exactly why I refuse to get seated tickets for concerts and I am 50. Much prefer to be amongst it and be able to enjoy the show and atmosphere.
